Getting the raid masteries

I have absolutely nothing against raiding and would like to run them sometime in the future. But for now, I would just like to do enough to complete the raid masteries.

I've only been back a few months with just a single character in full ascended gear. Eventually I will do my homework and put together a good meta raid build. But, again, for the time being I simply want enough time raiding to complete the raid mastery line.

Is this a realistic plan? Can I simply join a PUG raid group (if that even is a thing) and with a less-than-meta build complete the raid mastery line?

People will reply that you can, but if it was that simple raiding groups wouldn't be charging hundreds of gold for people like you to join a raid run to open up the raid masteries. Hopefully you can find a guild that does raid training runs without making you change your character build / gear first.

I would say it's worth copying your post and putting it up on the Raids forum bit as well. When I asked for similar advice to unlock the track a while ago I posted in the raid section on the old forums and got lots of replies and messages from helpful raiders who offered to help get me through a boss to unlock the track (some offered for free, others for gold). I took up a free offer of help and that weekend was helped to kill VG really quickly by a group of kind experienced raiders.

(I'm told escort events are easier than VG, but the squad that helped (probably carried) me through made VG pretty easy!)

Other than that I know there are guilds out there who specialise in training people/helping people do their first raid, so tracking one of those down might be a good idea.

Good luck!
