Returning Player thinking about Rerolling (Revenant to Mesmer) Thank you for the help!

Hi, First I want to say thanks for giving your time to read this!

My Main is a Revenant with full ascended gear + 4 extra inventory expansion slots also have a legendary sword. I've played alot of MMOs and usually enjoy playing tanks. Pre-HoT I thought a heavy armored class would of been a tank for raiding and crafted Ascended heavy and after seeing Elite specialization previews I though Guardian / Herald would of been the tank. I was wrong and soon left the game (due to unrelated reasons).

So now I'm back with some time and looking at mesmer as a tank for raiding. However, I'd like some community feedback on if this actually is worth it. In terms of all the gold I've invested for ascended, in essence I'd have to craft all of my armor over and purchase new bag slots (Ikr i dont HAVE to but come on 4 20 slots is torture). I am assuming Ascended is still a difficult and expensive venture. Any advise? (Am I overestimating the cost of ascended? does exotic really do fine and ascend is just a nice bonus? is Chronomancer ACTUALLY A TANK?!?)

Also since the last time I played was PoF (beat the expansion) would it wise to actually lvl my mesmer or should I just boost it is 80? ( I have one boost just lying around)

just don't expect to play mesmers elite specs in competitive since they are not viable atm.

Honestly go Condi-rev if you're gonna go revenant, Power is in the worst spot it has ever been in currently. (Outside of PvE, PvE all of rev is viable.)
