Toughness

It used to be useful 2 years ago but now I get smashed all over the place. Is it a worthless stat now for tanking?

Pve or PvP? Still Works in core tyria, tough full zerker party is king of core still.

In PvP/expansion Maps there are so much condition dmg that skip ur toughness so for tanking there vitality and active play Works better. The Power creep is so Bad atm that you cant tank in PvP, Even The old auramancer ele gets killed in second against good players.

Some New elites can tank in PvP, but coz i am The all mighty i know that nerf hammer is going to hit... And it is going to Be big hit :p

Toughness is not worthless for tanking, but you need to be able to move around better too now, and have enough condi cleaning same time.

Thanks for the info. Explains why my Necro does so well since my minions take my conditions with their attacks.

Most of the "tanking" in this game revolves around active defense, i.e. using dodges, abilities, and movement to evade damage. Toughness matters very little if you do not have means of sustainable health recovery.

Especially against some of the very massive damage sources ... 64k damage after a 25% reduction.

I feel toughness still has its place, but shouldn't be the only thing you are looking at for survivability
