Severe Lag Spikes & Disconnect - Error Code 7:11:3:202:101 - [Merged]

So I have been playing Guild Wars for a few months now and I have had zero issuesd with connectivity until the last few weeks. I thought it might have been my internet so I have updated my in house router and and my download speeeds are hitting 30-50mbs.

In game I play fine but then all of a sudden i'm getting high ping of 400+ and then everything freezes. Eventually I disconnect and get this error code: 7:11:3:202:101

I don't see another post about this specific error code but others of a similar format relate to disconnects, is anyone able to advise please?

  • I got on tonight, 1:00 AM Mountain, and there's like maybe 4 players at Fire Elemental. Ping 439, but the lag is absolutely horrible. The FE is hitting people and knocking them down in two hits, and they are unable to be resurrected or able to res themselves. Then you die, cannot waypoint out, and get DC. Heck, lot of times am fighting and suddenly stuff is not registering, but the FE was still damaging and interrupting cause there's like no one there.

    Rebooted the computer, router, twice. But to the game, error codes 7:11:3:202:101 from the Payette, Idaho region. Is the game being hacked again?

    Was weird, harvested in home, then guild hall. Then some character was asking me to join my guild, said was dead. he's asking why I was in it. Cause it's a home and let me do things I could not otherwise. Wasn't even a few minutes that I started getting those error codes 7:11:3:202:101 every 10 to 15 minutes. This some new IP hacking thing I wonder?

    Might be why no one is doing anything if their getting kicked offline from the client/server issue. As much money as I've dumped into the game the last few month I would expect better game play... /le sigh

  • just got it too, every 2-3 minutes I get the error code 7:11:3:202:101, and I'll get disconnected from the server..

  • I have gotten the same error code twice today and twice yesterday doing the heart of Thorns story quest. It also seems to happen near the end of the mission. Did anyone get an update on this issue?

  • Have been having the same problem ever since the No Quarter patch came in, can't go even half an hour without getting disconnected or getting massive lag spikes

    Have been getting this for months now, it coincidently happened the day after New Zealand went into complete lock down due to Covid-19 .
    Replaced my router/modem, replaced my graphics card and monitor (needed doing) just to see if it would fix the problem.
    The really strange thing is that this error actually makes my router/modem lose it's adsl connection and the it has to do the whole adsl handshake thing again
    I can sit at the log-in character screen for ages without any disconnects, I can watch you tube videos and download big files without any disconnects, it's only when I am actually playing GW2. The disconnects can be within a minute of logging in and playing or sometimes I can play for 15 minutes or so.
    I played GW since pre-launch and GW2 since pre-launch and have never had these sort of problems before and that was on an even slower and more unstable connection.

  • Gotten this code 3 times tonight playing PvP and i'm now Dishonored thank to it. Extremely frustrating. Also MT time at around 1 Am. first two times gave me the code, the third locked up my PC badly and i had to task manager it.

  • Has no one looked into this?? i have been getting this issue for the last month tried everything even submitted a ticket with the same error code still nothing. i thought it was just me but man i cant even play the game anymore i DC every 3 minutes with 7:11:3:202:101

  • i'm getting something a long the same errors as well, 7:11:3:202:101. all started after this latest patch. repairing client hasn't helped. rebooting internet hasn't, i'm hardwired as well. no wifi for gaming here. next step is fresh reinstall of game i guess.

    fresh reinstall of the game didn't work either.

    I'm also getting the same issue (and I live in MT time as well, coincidentally). The server worlds seem more populated than usual, maybe a server overload; i.e. too many players?

  • I started having the same issue just this past week after an update. I tried checking my firewall, updating and reinstalling programs, restarting my router/computer. Nothing works. I am on a college campus but I've been on this campus for 2 years now and this is the first time I've had this issue.

  • I was 40 min into a dungeon and then i got disconnected, not happy i have restart the whole thing, its the level 80 quest, it is long as can be

    Update: I ran a diagnostic test on the game. The errors start only when it goes to connect to the cloud servers the game is hosted on- I can connect to everything else fine, so its on either Cloud or ArenaNet's end.

    Same here ive been getting this error D/C when doing arena making it very frustrating to play

  • Rather easy to determine where a problem lays in respect this issue. Do a tcp ping on playing server. If the drops are within a few hops of your computer-thats your ISP. If the drops lay on the return leg from the AWS server.. then that is AWS and possibly Anet (Anets contribution to pitiful RTT -prob activity like cc being slow calculated)

    I've recently been getting this as of today. It's extremely annoying! Has anyone put a ticket in for this? and gotten a response?

  • i get this error every time i do a long boss fight in an instance. Every time i get to a big boss, i know im gonna be doing it 4-5 times and im tired of it. Seriously

  • Also it ALWAYS happens AFTER i do all the hard work and beat them, then at the end usually at a cutscene boom, that error code and i have to re do the entire mission. 1 time is fine, but its been about 30 times in my 150 hours ive put in this month and i have the screen shots to prove it. I did submit a ticket but idk if they will fix it it seems to have been an issue forever.

  • I'm getting this as well as error 42. Using the trading post has been a mess today. Everything fails to load, the gem store as well...

  • Dealing with this all the time. Really glad to hear I'm not the only one. Have never had this issue before up until recently but it really gives a level of anxiety doing anything cause you have no idea when it's gonna hit you.

  • same code here, been happening last few weeks. started doing it once a day(every 4 hours or so) now its every 30 mins.

    The lag spikes are the worst I've ever seen them. Skill lag, mount lag, mount race lag...wanted to do festival stuff this evening, but I couldn't even manage the dailies and simply logged off.

    TP is unusable. I can't even buy gems or stuff on the gem store.
    What is happening?

  • I've had this happen constantly over the past few days. Seems to happen almost exclusively in personal story instances. REAL pain having to restart long missions over and over. Did the same as everyone else above to try and resolve it personally, but feels like it's an ArenaNet problem at this point.

    I think this is super anecdotal (And I'm probably just noticing it when it's the most painful), but the disconnects often happen on the last step of a personal instance. Right when it's going to reward the completion. This specific timing has happened to me ~10 times in the last couple of days, 3 times on the exact same mission/instance.
    Really unfortunate heh.

  • Just adding my own experiences to this thread. As others have said above, the game is almost unplayable for me. The error started with the "log in/disconnect" errors others have described. I'd be in game, get the error popup, but still be able to play. Then the lag and full disconnects/crash to desktops began. In case this is at all relevant, the issues are happening most often on the Siren's Landing map for me, and they are occurring both on the open world map, and during the Season/Living Story instances on the map. Can we PLEASE get an official response from you Arenanet, acknowledging the issues?

    So you are aware of that and have been silent for months? You know that makes for a frustrating game experience and didn't find it necessary to give us a heads up until now? You tell me how this kind of behaviour is supposed to build trust in you and how you view you customers.

    The reality is that the customer wants a product that at least provides minimum functionality. On some maps this isn't the case since months. The exact causes are something that probably will never get revealed by you guys. I may be totally wrong here, but given the fact that these performance issues mostly occur on maps that are (severely) underpopulated it could be that there are also economical reasons for the whole performance problem. But that's a totally uneducated guess on my side - of course.

    Since when? If you're already working on this issue for a longer time, then why the heck didn't you let us know? The existence of problems is nothing bad, being silent about them however is. Whoever is responsible for your communication rules with the community actively hurts the customer relationship.

    What could make you unable to keep us updated?

    The trading post has been working better for me after I cleared the cache, had no more errors with it.

    Thanks for sharing. I have to say since the latest patch everything seems to be a whole lot better especially about the TP.

  • is anyone having those lag spikes during regular movement, too? i legit had it the entire day no matter if i was in an instance or not. ive checked if it was a me problem, updated everything that could be updated (windows, drivers), emptied the temporary data etc etc. but its still a pain to play rn

    In crown pavilion now getting errors every 30secs and dc 3 times in a row,can't even join the map!!

  • This issue started for me last night and even after trying eventhing suggested in previous threads on this topic and similar issues I couldn't fix it. Eventually I went into my firewall to make sure the launcher was still allowed and I found it was not. I had a windows update right before the problem started which might have effected it, so double check your firewall settings and allow the Guild Wars 2 laucher both private and public accses. Once I allowed both of those and enabled them in the inbound rules I haven't had any dissconnect issues.

    This may not be the root of everyones problem but its worth checking.

    Anet broke something when they added one or both of the Drizzlewood maps and the servers are having massive hangups on a scale I've never seen before

    Getting rolling 7:11's is nothing new with this game but now it's a common occurrence to get double digit seconds long total freeze ups and the in game monitor saying I'm hitting 2500+ ping for no discernible reason

    Much like every other time I have a problem with GW2 desyncs, it's not on my end because I'm not having any issue playing any other games or streaming content and it seems to happen indiscriminately. Time of day, player count, or activity in my vicinity has no apparent direct correlation

    I'll lag to hell and back just as often doing drakkar as I will doing a strike mission and can often get spikes just from milling about in the Eye

    I'm glad that i don't get disconnects. But ever since i started playing again about two weeks ago, the game often freezes for a couple of seconds during fights. It only seems to happen in PoF and Season 4 Maps, which is nice because i intend to farm mapcurrency for skyscale-saddle.

  • This has happened about 5 times in 2 hours tonight on NA servers... can't complete living story when getting kicked out :(

    I got news from ArenaNet support!!!

    After doing a bunch more tests and sending them lots of info, we determined that it's on my internet service provider's end. I use Frontier, which was bought out by Ziply right around the time this code first started getting reported. ArenaNet recommended contacting them and sending them all the info I've collected- I'll try to keep you all updated!

    Honestly, I'd prefer they just shut the kitten servers down and focus 100% effort into solving this problem.

    This is going on too long.

    ~ I left GW2 on 11/22/2020 due to widespread cheating and the lack of action to moderate it

  • I'm having the same issue for whole last week. The client lose connection 1 or 2 times per hour. I've lost a place in so many metas, so the game becomes unplayable. Running a ping process in background window shows no packet loss and ping about 40ms...

    From Portugal same error here. I forwarded my router's ports, i created an exception in my antivirus and my firewall but the problem persists.

I haven't played this game regularly in years, decided to come back and buy the expansions to pick it up again...and now I can't even make it 5 minutes without a DC and having to re-do story scenes over and over again. I wonder if I can get a refund so I can just uninstall the game for good this time.

    Hi I have the same thing, and every day is getting worse. I am not sure what happened but my pc and router and line are the same I don't think it's but GW2 servers. I do not have any issues with other games. If before was some lag spikes now and then, now it became unplayable as of yesteday, I just logged in now TP is not even opening and I get disconnected. it definitely getting worse :(

  • I quit the game years ago but I have been playing it again 2 weeks ago without any issue. But since yesterday and for absolutely no reason, I get a lot of issues (can't login, infinite loading, can connect but get disconnected after few minutes, ...). It's unplayable. I did a complete troubleshooting and tried absolutely everything I could find in Support section, Google, forums etc. The issue is not coming from my side, every single other online game works fine, I have a ping of 12 ms, 0 packet loss, a really good connection from my ISP, my computer is wired to the router etc. It makes me wonder why I came back on this game, I want to quit already ...

  • Please ArenaNet FIX IT.
    In addition to the mentioned error I am also disconnected frequently from the server.
