Legendary armor & auras

I wish to request Anet to update legendary armor for pve to have pretty auras too very very please. When players complain about the skin is not fancy enough during the first release I didn't think that was necessary due to having able to change stat for the armor I thought it was nice enough. but now seeing other game mode can obtain nicer skins with pretty auras (dye-able). I think we should have the same scale of treatment. I prefer and enjoy mainly pve contents, I wish arena net would consider this and provide auras to pve legendary armor. :p

All I want is the ability to dye the armor something other than easter egg pastel.

Its even wierder when a dev said they were loking into the glow stuff and dyes and yet legendary armor still dyes terribly.

I think it would be really nice to hear for more support and opinion from more players here about this. Either I have missed this or I haven't seen people requesting for auras for pve legendary armor such as that in mistforged triumphant armor. I have actually transmuted my leg armor with other skin sadly because they offer really nothing so special nothing as so great. I would love to have some awesome auras that stands out. genuinely request arena net to consider adding this feature for us :)

the great effect only during on combat once, and that's about it a split second of coolness. the long term glow isn't as great and not as visible as the mistforged triumphant armor. :(

I really like to put my voice forward too, that I have worked really hard for the legendary armor and I believe this is the same for many other players too that do not have a static raiding group to play with. we don't just have to face the challenge game mechanic but also attitudes of many elitist players to complete the goal for making legendary armor. I am not here to compare or question about why getting leg armor is that easy in wvw, you essentially just need to camp there and participating and such .. you know what I mean. similar to wvw players, they do not like pve content, I have tried and wvw is not the place for me. I do wish changes can be made to current legendary armor for pve so we can have at least similar aura effect on the armor or addition of some obvious on-combat auras. the current one has no WOW-effect.

You're kidding, right? WvW legendary armor takes WAY more effort to make than PvE armor, costs same amount of materials and doesn't have its own skin.

Eh.... That's entirely subjective. The effort required to gain the WvW levels and items really isn't that much greater than what goes into raids.

  • No. Difficulty might be subjective, effort (measured in hours) is not. PvE leggy requires 150 LI * ~5 mins per boss kill = approx. 12,5 hours of your time. (This has to be done over 12 weeks due to bosses resetting weekly.) And how long does WvW armor take? I have no idea tbh., but I bet it's at the very least 5-6 times as long even if you're on strong server and already have a high rank.

Right, it might in theory take more time. But it definitely doesn't take more effort. You can near afk and gain rank & participation in WvW. It might not be the most engaging way, but it certainly less effort than learning fights/fighting things. To make my point even more clear, you dont have to ever engage in combat in WvW be it with a player or mob to gain these levels. You can go around repairing stuff and get credit that way, or enter a tagged keep and get participation for defense by applying swiftness to any npc in there.

I go into wvw join a commander.。 my rank goes up without too much effort.
in raids. I have to wipe countlessly.. hours or wipe. before we can get a boss kill. you can do only escort weekly to get that 1 li. but real raider work very hard for it. you need to be in it to know. it isn't as you thought - ah you can get 13 li everyweek and how many weeks you get 150li. but do u actually know to get 1 li per week require countless wipes practice and a lot of effort. and that DPS meter. in wvw you do not need to join a hardcore organised wvw group to be able to rank up. in pve raids, you need to PUSH yourself to the limit to get it.

Please share your opinion the aura on wvw leg armor and pve leg armor. prefer not to go into comparing the difficulty of both game mode. The legendary armor for all game modes should share the same WOW-effect.

I understand how much effort dev put on making this amour where it can transform. amazing new technology application there. but lets be real, even the gemstore outfit look nicer than it. why? because they glow!!! and the leg armor in wvw, glows and MOVESS!!!! :(

There's a definite downside to that though - the armour sets look terrible when not transformed.

The legendary heavy helmet basically looks like the one Lionguard NPCs are wearing...

Please Anet give us a hide Chest Armour-option. Tattoo-clad Norns everywhere beg of you.

  • If you are anet partner make sure you don't express your honest opinion about the leg armor or you might lose your partnership like Brazil did.

I'm not a partner so I can say the wvw armor doesn't need any skill, doesn't need to know anything about the game, just follow commander using 2000 toughness gear doing 11111 skill and afk at spawn point, you get a armor with a very unique skin very easily.
Ppl say wvw armor takes longer to get but does that make any difference for wvw ppl? they play wvw all the time anyway so they will get the armor with no effort.

I have guildies saying they cant do raids, is very hard to find teams and if they get 3 li per week they are very happy already, getting 3 li per week will take like 1 year to get legendary armor.
Wvw you always can get max tickets every week very very easily and you will get the armor just like that with no stress just playing the game.

Raids are cancer that you have to wipe hours and hours and hours, you get insulted and you see others get insulted.

When you start raids with 0 li playing with pugs, you will get lots of stress and you need lots of determination to continue doing raids.
I'm saying that when playing with pug in raids, doing raids with friends or guild teams is not that bad..

Anyway that's my opinion that raid legendary armor should be the best looking armor in the game, because is the hardest armor to get in the game.

Let's get on track of the topic .. the post is to request for near future improvement of legendary armour to include reasonable noticeable auras during in combat mode. Currently there's no wow effect on the armour other than the split second when character goes into combat. After tht it's nothing special about it. Even some gemstore outfit out beat it with glow and dyeable auras. :(
I'm sure we can do better. I'm fighting for this.. join me :p

I'd personally make the Heavy skin always transformed because it looks like trash when it's not in favor of an aura, change the Medium skin to match other professions such as Engineer and Thief because it's a Ranger armor atm, and just make the Light one brighter.

I agree with this. I was very disappointed that you cannot dye chest piece wing effect and even then, it looks kinda cheap (legendary heavy chest piece), compared to WvW one. I really hope they will not leave it like it is now :( It definitely does not feel legendary :disappointed:
Also dyeing heavy armor is pain, shades are always different if you use same dye with different armor pieces.

  • wrong! Wrong! WRONG!

    A touch of madness? :D

What you're discounting is the fact that while you can AFK, WvW monetary rewards are absolutely horrendous, so the cost will take you even longer than the tickets whereas with raids you're still getting payouts much better than the AFK fest.

WvW will have to put effort into more than just AFK farm in WvW. They'll actually have to go out of WvW and farm PvE to cover the gold costs.

how do you even get to rank 2000 in wvw...i mean..rank 2000....wow

  • cryorion.9532cryorion.9532 Member ✭✭✭

Well, just because one requires more effort than other one, doesn't mean the aura and effects should be worse...
Getting to rank 2000 in WvW is not a fast task, but similar can be applied to timegated stuff like provision tokens and legendary insights for PvE legendary armor. Also, starting with raids can be very frustrating if people don't get into training guild. Meanwhile WvW is just timegated, that's all.

LETs don't get side track. We are not comparing difficulty and the commitment for two game modes. Not everyone does raids and not everyone does wvw. Certainly we don't want to say which game mode deserve cooler look or better attention. Arena net always looks after thier players. I believe raiders are looked after too which I appreciate. I'm requesting for some awesome aura on the leg armour.. or some improvements .. if you are on the same page with me put your voice forward if you are not then tell us why you think current one is nice already
