Infusions effects are out of control

I think I can speak for a lot of players who are upset about infusion effects.
I want to make it clear that I don't want it removed from the game!

However, I want an enhanced options menu that allow me to control which effects are visible to me and how many stacks of them I can see per character.
It's time for such a quality-of-life feature, please do something!

  • I agree with this.
I also wonder if loading the particle effects from people's infusions has an affect on performance for lower end machines.

  • Yes please yes lets us hide effect of player that are not in our party/group. Not just infusion skill effect too.

Yep infusions don’t even look cool in my opinion everybody running around looking like they got the plague or something lol.

effects in general are out of control.
why there isn't an option to turn off all other players' effects in 2020 is just crazy.

  • Zephire.8049Zephire.8049 Member ✭✭✭

Definitely. I'd rather miss out on the occasional cool usage of an infusion if it meant reducing visual clutter and improving performance. Especially when some people's aesthetic is whatever will annoy others rather than be a coherent look or colour scheme.

Honestly, there probably wouldn't be nearly as many complaints about particle effects if there was a way to reduce and/or turn them off completely.

Just remove the stacking instead. One regular infusion and one enrichment infusion per character.

But yes, visual noise is over the top lately.

That is still stacking aura's. I think there should only be one infusion aura shown, I have a feeling that when we get the legendary amory that there will also be an infusion panel template, because I think there has to be for it to work, hopefully it restricts aura's to one.

I, also, would like to turn off the infusions of other players

  • I think infusions are cool when used in moderation. Having 6 different infusions just hurts xD

I think that Anet wants people to see these effects so that they can say "Oooo that's cool" and then work to obtain the item(s) that grant the desired effect. That keeps people playing longer and/or spending money to convert gems -> gold to purchase needed things from the BLTC to craft the item(s). Sure, a setting could be made where a player can just see their own effect, but without seeing other player's effects how would they know that such items exist?

Personally, I would like the ability to turn off these effects. I just don't see it in Anet's best interest to do so. /shrug

I am a very casual player.
    Very.
    Casual.

  • You can turn these off in competitive modes - there's an option to show only Standard Enemy Models. Very good in WvW, let me tell you. You can also do the same for Standard Friendly Models. As kharmin wrote, Anet probably doesn't want to do this in PvE.

There is also a Setting under graphics that allows you to lower the character model quality:

**Character Model Quality **— Controls the number of of high-quality character models that may be displayed.
Drop-down options include "Lowest", "Low", "Medium", "High", and "Highest". See the gallery below for a visual representation of the generic standard models enabled with the lowest settings.

Also allow me to hide wings that lower my FPS.

doesnt remove infusions nor does it remove horrendous glowing wings or led or flaming back pieces

As far as I know, Enrichment infusions don't have auras; they're always some minor effect.

They do have aura's, the celebration enrichment has one.

Are you telling me y'all don't love this?

(that was sarcasm, in case it wasn't blatantly obvious)

  • No, it wouldn’t be worth the money if others couldn’t see how many shinnies I have.

  • How about an Upgrade that can be purchased from the Gem store that you can use to hide everyone else's infusions/wings/backpacks :)

defiantly needed, if Sylvari Pollen effects ere removed before launch because of concern about effects on older hardware how is bat plauge any better?

Actually under settings there is a way to make everyone have the default models I’m at work so don’t know which one but it is there.

I would agree to an option to deal with such cases.
However, I find these effects even more annoying within my party/group than in open world.

Well that wouldn't solve my problems. There are infusions that look pretty ugly and/or annoying with just one.
Ghostly, Peerless or Phospholuminescent are such examples.

I also think it's too late to remove stacks completely, it's already part of the game, and the stacking isn't that bad at all.
Liquid Aurillium still looks really smooth with 3 stacks, while Queen Bee looks pretty ugly.

We need a lot more options, so everyone can decide for themselves what is best for their own gaming experience.

Which weirdo comes up with the idea of putting such a fundamental feature behind a paywall?!

That would be more annoying for me. But I am sure that the infusion effects cannot be deactivated by this anyway.
You can set Animation in Graphics Options to Low to remove only the effects for Ghostly.
This is nowhere near enough, and it also makes all the animations in the game look awful.

Character Model Quality doesnt remove infusions nor does it remove back packs / back pieces

so all the shiny~laggy things will still render

I was thinking under competitive option standard friendly model but that doesn't apply to PVE unfortunately.

  • Logging in to say yes, please. Even on a mid-range system, there's a notable effect once a number of glowing players zerg a fight.

Limiting it to 1 infusion per character isn’t the way. There’s a vast difference in level of particle effects between infusions with some giving “a lot” like the Queen Bee vs Ember Infusion which only changes skin color or Poly Teal which only changes overall color scheme. There’s a lot of possibility for creative color schemes and combinations that don’t have much or any particle effects at all. Taking that away would be unfortunate as it would reduce player choice further.
