The game is getting so hard to enjoy and this is so painful

I have to start with the fact that I love the game! Have about 4k hors of gameplay over the last 5 years, and I have been really really enjoying the game so far. I tried to invite some of my friends to try the game over the years, but I am always hitted with the question of "Why is so interesting in this game? What does this game have and others don't?" I am trying to show them how cool the combat is and how the community is so welcoming but this just doesn't stick to them.As of lately, the lack of fining a fitting guild from many that I have tried, lack of real friends with whom to go more in-depth of AP hunting or just plain exploration of Tyria is starting to get it's toll on me. I would like to ask you how you went through this and kept playing? On the other side, as I am somewhat of an end-game player, have ton of exp and kp from frac CMs and raids, the recent frac CM feels like a turn off to me. I have been doing the latest 100CM daily since lunch, but fact that devs don't listen to make the frac a bit easier on graphic side (the bright lights on dark background feel tiring to watch and concentrate) and the fact that the frac takes twice as long in pugs and even some statics I experimented with (in comparison to other 2 CMs we have) is is just such a turn off for me. Would like to know how you cope with this! Have seen a few players who just straight up gave up on 100CM for daily, some even on CMs in general, as they already got the title, and the rewards are not worth it. In my case (I feel like a medium to good player) it takes 2-3hrs just to finish the frac CMs and T4s, and after that I am so exhausted I just want to turn off the game.

Please, I am not here to complain nor to ask for easier content, but I need your help on how did you got over this phase of the game? I don't wanna leave the game, but it's hard not to think about this.

Lol WvW is just dead content XDA guesstimate is that around 75,000+ players have died since reset yesterday. So yes, dead content is accurate I suppose.

WvW is boring and indeed dead content. Plus, not anyone enjoys doing some boring stuff on a one dimensional map and get ganked by griefers at will. 75,000 players isn't even 1/10th of PVE players in the game.

To the op, class mechanics are the most interesting thing in this game. I'm mastering all the dps classes, trying different builds and specs and it's tons of fun. Also fashion wars.

on the finding friends and guilds side, for me playing music made people automatically come to me, especially ppl from the cmaj guild, which in turn attracts more people. I'd end up striking conversations or goofing around with them, and have made lots of ingame friends with it. divinity's reach at the waypoint with the bank&tp is the best place to socialize, meet new people, and sometimes come across funny situations. I'm now a member of cmaj and 2 other guilds which i all met in the span of 1 year. Joined them in playing music, achievement hunting, fashion contests, map breaking and much more. You don't need an instrument by the way, just join in on the fun with people, roleplay a bit if you're into that, and have fun :)

believe me you can't go wrong with chilling at DR, I'm there often if you ever wanna hang out.

For me pvp is always the end content in any mmorpg. And no WvW is not dead. Queues almost every evening.

What I don't get are arguments like this. "Fractal is too long". "Pugs take too long to complete fractal". "There is not enough end game PVE content". Longer fractal = more content compared to short fractal. And all fractals are super short anyway so we are talking about minutes here.

I just go and do something else, usually tending to my garden. After a while, the game feels good again. But it can be hard, pulling yourself away long enough to feel better, since video games are addicting, and exhausting.

As for keeping friends with the game, I find they're much more likely to stay if you introduce them to group content early. Players who just do Personal Story and open-world are more likely to leave because what the New Player Experience (NPE) offers players is nothing like the end-game. In fact even latest stories in LS4/5 are so far beyond the Core story that its rediculous, but its hard for anyone to know that.

Best show them gameplay videos, take them into Fractals (they don't need to be lv80), do every dungeon, etc.

But you'll never stop players from leaving, even friends. Alot of people who play games don't pick a game and stick to it, they like to try everything and constantly have a fresh supply of games that they play just once and leave behind. This is a common struggle especially if you have ADHD and/or autism and others around you don't, since it causes hyper fixation but they're like "meh, been there done that".

Almost no one can understand how I can get so "into" something like this game. Its just a game, afterall.

Just do your best, that's all you can do.

Sounds like someone needs a break.

You can't force yourself to like and accept the game as is in the current state. Either turn into PvP'er like alot of us once you feel that PvE offers nothing but repetitive and predictable content or just go refresh your head with a different game and return at your leisure.

Its shorter than sirens reef and casual SO. My groups need 5.5-6min for it after just one week. <5min definitely possible in the future. Frac CMs + T4 take me 40min to 1h depending on if i pug or run with a static. Sorry but 2-3h doesnt sound normal. Are you running with offmeta memecomps by any chance? The new fractal is easier than the old cms in my opinion.I usually just raid on monday and/or thuesday and do fractals like 3 times a week. And yes that means after raids i really have just 40min of content before i log out.

A nice thing about GW2 is that you can walk away from it for a while and not "miss out." I take breaks when burn out hits, just logging in to keep the daily login rewards flowing, and play something entirely different, like Civilization 6. GW2 is always there waiting when I'm ready to jump back in.

Did you post this on the wrong section i think.. you have posted in wvw section.. but most of your game play is pve content. Shouldnt it be posted under guild wars general discussion section? Btw Im one of all contents player. I find the latest 100cm the easiest fractal cm ever. And what i love about this cm is that.. it goes straight to boss whereas the others hv events in between . Id love future fractal to be such. I often have migrane.. and lights in the game makes it worse.. but this fractal light wasnt so bad.. perhaps its some setting you can set up to reduce it.. post processing to turn off and etc.. i will have a look later if i can find out more how to reduce it. The new 100cm is vert beautiful.. environment is amazing with the weather.. and the story is awesome.. fight your doubt and fear.. dance with your demon (well not exactly but ?)the mechanic is really easy to remember.. the trick is CC. everyone has to do extra CC not just rely on skill cc but extra item cc eg metal rod, wood plank, rock, shovel etc and strong dps to phase or skip phase. i suggest you to make group to get good players to play instead of joining any group as cm are not for any common pug.. ask for tittle and kp. 100cm best with condi damage as the boss move around a lot and @sorrow phase after cc, fear spawn.. dont get hit by it... treat fear = fractal.rabbit.. kite around it for 5 seconds. :p in a month time this fractal cm going to be like running t4.. its really easy. And theres a lot of pre warming of what mechanic come next.. eg when sparkles happen in the air.. the boss is charging up to throw stuff on the ground and follow up by "matthiar" body bomb that need to spread right out. Also im playing with quite high ping for this content.. my ping is around 400 to 600. and im quite comfortable with this new content i give it 9 out of 10.

I hope you find a group of friends to play... wvw has a good socialise community .. try move to T1 or T2 minor link servers.. its quite happening there. wish all the best :)

  • 1 Fractal in 18 months.... it wasn't terrible but was that it?
  • Raids too hard for plebs, so let's make these watered down strike missions. But still too hard, because much of the pve community wants to play "how they want" but still get all the shinies and that includes wilful of ignorance of class mechanics and builds as well as the dodge button. Wait, that's hardly confined to pve.
  • Alliances when?
  • The other competitive mode is fighting with bots.
  • The hamsters running the servers are on their last legs.
  • So what's left? Log in every few months for 15 min of content from Living Story.

The game is in a very bad state now; and yes, unfortunately you'll just have to make friends doing contact you care for or join a guild. There is no place for the competitive players in this game as if you've read enough posts here on the forums, you will notice a pathological hatred of excellence or just simply competence, so all we're getting is the "participation ribbon" content.

It's almost like we're playing completely different games. I have a guild full of active people who are mostly into doing story and getting achievement points and collections and making legendary weapons and doing meta events. Those zones aren't 15 minutes of content. Hell the new meta, if you run it beginning to end is a couple of hours. I've spent a lot of hours in Drizzlewood and I'll no doubt spend more and I'm having fun doing it.

The game isn't in bad shape. It's just not what some people want it to be.

Right or not the pvp is not less a visual cluster than the pve at this point.

Imo if you're gonna PvE, you should get a 18+ guild and do it on voice comms. Once you do same content multiple times, it really isn't about challenge anymore but about what kind moments other players can provide you. Reason it doesn't stick with your friends might be many from not being used to MMORPGs, not good enough PC setup or just wanting more action than hitting 1 boss for 3 minutes with same rotation from some raiding website. Overall GW2 isn't that epic of a game compared to other MMOs and not everyone finds things like Cat Golems+asura memes funny or engaging, and would rather have epic scary dramatic cutscenes.

Also community being welcoming and friendly doesn't usually equal being enjoyable, for example I enjoy League of Legends toxic chat more than Guild Wars 2 goodyshoes chat as it involves more actual emotions, not just being perfect person. For example in GW2 I managed to create a guild with solid 30 active nice players but none of them felt like they were confident enough to show any personality or creativity.

Regarding WvW, well it has no competitive balancing anymore so you're supposed to play for people around you as well. There isn't much you can do unless you find people you enjoy playing with. But I do agree that most guilds feel somewhat zombieish, just running around circlejerking same topics from 2 years ago, these days.

As some people said, taking a break for a month or two to play other games can revitalize your love for the game. It works a few times but as long as you're aware of all the other nice games out there, it will eventually lose its effectiveness.

I quit Guild Wars 2 myself about a month ago as the competitive balancing from WvW is gone and there is no social progression with only hardcore fans that are very set on their actions left. Will check out next expansion however.

visual cluster is right but u dont know how one is gonna move around and when hes gonna dodge etc.killing that one guy is a real endgame boss.
