PVP - Is team rating accounted for? Or is it individual rating that determines your rank points?

Hello all, my question for discussion is about rank points and scoring. I messaged the GW2 with this:

"
How come I lose 17 to 18 points on a loss but only gain 12 points on a win? Is your matchmaking imbalanced?
"

I was followed up by this, which I think was a helpful response, but not fully:

"
_The Player vs. Player system is based off of your opponents rating compared to yours. If your opponents rating is lower then yours, you will gain less rating points then if your opponents rating is higher then yours and you win. Same goes for losing, if you lose to an opponent that is rated lower then u, you will lose more rating points then if you lost to an opponent rated higher then you. Below I will provide a link to a forum discussion, which will provide further details.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.

"

But I was curious about how the system deals with lower team rating versus higher team rating , so I followed up with this:

"_Okay that makes sense that you lose more against lower rating players vs winning more against higher rating players. Also I read the forum you referenced.

But does that scoring account for the people on your team? Like if I'm on a team where their skill level is comparable or lower than mine, and if I lose against a team that is lower in rating than me, I lose more points?_"

And then they directed me to the forums, here.

So, does anyone know the answer? If you are on a team where most of your teammates' ratings are lower than the other teams, but yours is higher, and then your team loses, do your lose more points??
