Mastery points guide/tour

Hello, I'm new to Guild Wars 2, I purchased the package that gives the 80 account boost which I used on a 2ndary character because I want to level up my necromancer from scratch. I was hoping that I could get the mounts at least the first 4(the flying one would be awesome) with my 80 character, so that I could use that with my necromancer as I level. Is there anyone/guild that helps someone new go to and get mastery points? Or is that asking too much? I'm on Borlis Pass Server.

Hi there, I'm on NA too.

People still go to the PoF maps, particularly when there are metas (Casino/pinata in Crystal Oasis) and dailies. There will be heaps of mesmers when that happens, so it's easiest to get them on daily day. However, the one in the tetrahedron in Crystal Oasis, while only a commune, is a PITA because of the mob density and aoe damage. That one is easiest tackled if someone is doing the legendary bounty - they're taking down mobs around that boss so the path is clearer immediately post-bounty.

Ask in map chat! There are some easy commune mastery points across the maps where the main problem is mob respawn time.

There are guilds that run HP trains, and I have combo HP/mastery point trains as well. Yeehaw Shenanigans, in particular, I see running trains.

That said, the main source of mastery points for PoF is doing the story.

Honestly, if you want to get basic mounts and then play through Core Tyria, just get the Raptor and Springer. That will be more than sufficient for everything until later mounts and their masteries are needed to progress in the desert.

I too am on NA (server doesn't matter, just EU or NA) and could help/carry you through that far.

Are you EU or NA?

I'm NA, I have the raptor i just got it yesterday, but I need to get experience and Im supposed to get mastery points just so I can get the long jump so I can get to the area that has the 2nd mount? Or is that wrong?Server doesnt matter? thats cool if thats the case.

"when there are metas (Casino/pinata in Crystal Oasis) and dailies. " I have no idea about this. lol

I was in the desert town and a bunch of people were defending a town and I was leveling up a little that way, but after they killed that boss, they would disappear and after a while I would get a message saying switch to another channels, then they would be fighting the boss on that channel, I didnt know how to follow them or switch channels so I could start the fight from the beginning lol

The best way to get XP is doing the heart quests on the map, or to join a group on the map doing events or bounties ("bounty train").

Doesn't matter.

I think you mean 'switch map instances' instead of 'switch channels'? If so, then you would right-click on the squad icon for the group leader and choose "Join in Desert Highlands" (or whatever map name it is). This the Megaserver system, which dynamically creates multiple copies of the same map, as needed, based on player count. So you sometimes need to use "Join in X" to get into the same copy of the map that your party or squad is in.

Core Tyria is actually easy to do without mounts. Just having the raptor already will help you to get around faster.Getting the Skycale or Griffon isn't something I'd recommend you to work on that early in the game. You need a lot of time (and patience) and a lot of gold (or in some cases, to save the gold, a selection of high level crafters - but Griffon is definitely 250 gold). I think, for the skyscale and griffon you also need the stories completed. I am not sure though as I only started with the Skyscale once I had it all done anyway and am not interested in the griffon. I knew I needed lots of map currency, so while I played I saved them all up, which later on then saved me the pain of grinding on those maps (that's something to keep in mind when you reach these maps).

If you do too much in PoF, it will spoil the story for you, if you care about story at all.I've done core Tyria multiple times before any mounts were released - and also HoT. It's all doable, and actually the way it is intended. When I do map completion of the zones I like, I still often walk / run. But then, I might just be weird ;)
