Q: Mastery Point in The Tomb (Desert Highlands)

I did read all sort of statements - at times contradictory - about this mastery point and would like to understand what is true (or not). I would like to know about the 3 following main points:

1. Is it true that the alternative route external to The Tomb has been patched and is no more possible?
2. Some players tell that they have done it with a Springer rank 3 straight inside the room: Is it really possible?
3. And last but main: Is it true that it can be done with a Griffon only?

I never knew about the alternative route. I have seen people do it with out the Griffon but it looked like it required a lot of patience. When I got my Griffon I just went straight there.

I tried it with the springer once, i came really close, but if you land on there, its probably pixel perfect jumping

I have no idea if the alternate route has been patched or not. As for the springer, I tried but could not get there. Most likely because I just didn't know what I was doing, or my jumps were just unlucky.

The mastery point is intended to be reached with the griffon only. We were never supposed to be able to run the back route.

It was possible to cheese it with glider before Anet patched it.And yes it's griffon only.

I must have gotten that MP before the patch then because two friends and I were able to use the alternate route with only a minor hiccup. There were invisible walls, but there was one point where you could glide out of there to the pillar where the MP was.

It is possible to do it with Springer + gliding, but it requires not only pixel perfect jump aim, but also pixel-perfect mid-jump maneuvering. Most of the players won't be able to do it that way. The easiest way is springer+griffon. And the "back route" is obviously not intended, and if it isn't patched up yet, it eventually will be.

I am not sure how to feel about that. Clearly it was never intended for everyone to have the griffon.

TBH im not sure how to get there, i got up by a mesmer dropping me a portal, and said mesmer used a TP to friend to get up there in the first place!

Griffon is required for the Tomb master, Springer 3 is to get to the pillar close to one of the snake statues, you are then supposed to use the griffon's glide to reach the mastery pillar.

cant say i like forcing me to get the deformed owl I hate grýphōns as enemies i don't want a pet one And i was not a Tapioca fan in Nightfall either and laugh at what joko did to her.

ANet stated that this particular MP was designed to be reachable only via Griffon.

Thanks All! Ok, then I give up on it. I do not intend to go for a Griffon any time soon, and as I have enough mastery points to complete all ranks, fine with me. :)

Given that Mastery Points are not part of Map Completion, I find it perfectly ok for some of them to require the griffon.

I did level 3 on the first 4 mounts. If HOT is any guide I will wish I had those points for the season masteries so will get them before coming back for level 4.

You can most definitely do all griffon collections solo.

There are more than enough mastery points to max all masteries even if the tomb one is skipped.

There are people offering to port / teleport to friend the tomb mastery point 24/7 in LFG.

This is a non issue.

Full clear of PoF story, maps and Griffon on Chrono. All done solo.

The griffon collections can most definitely be done solo, with the exception of the bounties. And it's not too terrible to find people to do the bounties. I see people calling them out in map chat all the time. Additionally, I've watched a few streamers do the rest of the collections (yes, including the library) on their own now. Personally, I did it with my husband. The worst part (for me) was feeding him the 250g he needed, on top of spending 250g myself. Thankfully halloween is helping me coup that cost.

That said, if anyone would like help with any of the collections (killing stuff, finding stuff, no I'm not handing out gold), feel free to hit me up in game.

Some friendly mesmer ported me in.Springer 3 failed many times and attempting to come in via the roof resulted in an encounter with many invisible walls.

I did it using a Springer and then the Griffon but soon after I saw a Mesmer porting people up.

There were actually two alternate routes.
