Sodeni.6041
What weapon would you like to get for the next engineer elite specialization?Clarifications:I added an option for "other" weapons, too, so you can tell us what currently non-existant weapon you would like to get as an engineer. You are only allowed to specify 10 poll options so I scrapped focus, warhorn and sword (offhand). If you would like to get those weapons for the next engineer elite specialization, vote for "other" and tell us why!I would appreciate if you voted and told us why you'd like to see your chosen weapon for the next engineer's elite specialization! Sodeni.6041
I would love to get staff as a weapon together with a support elite spec, golemancer maybe?
InsaneQR.7412
Mace. Because it fits it theme and it could be a very nice defensive CC weapon.I kbow there is a kit with a mace AA but thats not quiet the same.
Arimas.3492
I'd like staff as a long range weapon. I'd rather go for power-oriented support weapon as in my mind it would fit well with a staff on engineer. I would go for offensive support rather than healing because if Anet would just buff our core options like Med Kit and maybe change EG 5 to a water field we'd have good healing support already. If I'm thinking in a real sense though I would bet the next weapon will be a mace, either mainhand or dual wield, and it will be a condi based support spec. Since both current elite specs are power bruisers/damage oriented, that leaves conditions and support, and Anet has already made 2 specs that combine both with Firebrand and Scourge. Ardid.7203
I voted for Dagger because:1- I would like to have a high mobility+CC+Support spec with dual Daggers as a new Elite Spec for engie.2- Engie truly needs a new mainhand weapon FOR THE CORE, not for another closed and self-centered Elite Spec. I think Mace can and should fill this basic, huge gap.
Unholy Pillager.3791
Seriously, we don't need yet another melee-range weapon when we don't even have a decent ranged option. There are parts of this game in which you need decent ranged damage, and we are literally the only profession in the game without reliable damage from 1200+ range now. Kallist.5917
Lets change things up even more than Staff as a melee. Lets go with Speargun as a Surface weapon! Rocket launcher ftw!
Heimskarl Ashfiend.9582
Torch, but it's not really a blow torch, it's a plasma cutter with 1200 range. Think Sentinel beam laser from Halo.

Like the engie's rifle is a mid-short range weapon, while the mesmer's great sword is a high range beam weapon.IMO they should make the rifle auto a better option for range, but specially make mainhand pistol a viable ranged focused weapon. Then I would love to see a rocketeer-like elite spec, where the engie him(her)self is a ranged weapon, able to attack and go back even from 1000 units away. EdwinLi.1284
I would choose dagger for tesla coil theme range weapon but I strongly prefer staff more as it would fit into a more electric Barrier theme Support/Utility Elite Spec as a Range Staff Weapon by having the Staff as a conduit for electric theme attacks with Skill 4 releasing Elctrical Energy to creat Electric Barrier around nearby allies and Skill 5 being about Unleashing a Energy Storm in a Target AoE location that damage enemies in side it and apply Electric Barrier to allies in it. Focus weapon will also work to if they can some how make it a Main-hand weapon and Off-hand weapon thus Dual weild Focus Elite Spec.Dagger/Dagger Elite Spec would fit more into a type of DPS Elite Spec more but it could also be used for a Electric Barrior Support/Utility Elite Spec as well if done right. However, as I said I believe staff would fit more for a weapon of choice for being a Electric Barrier theme Support/Utility Elite Spec.A Trait in this Support/Utility Elite Spec can even apply shock damage to enemies that hit the player or allies with the Electric Barrier on them. The introduction of Barrier mechanic has so much potential for a Engineer's Elite Spec far more than the other Professions.PS also for the sake of UNLIMITED POWER!!!! blindrage.6158
I would prefer a long range (1200+) staff idea with either a technomancer or golemancer type theme. Something that combines magic and tech would be awesome, and is something I feel is seriously lacking in this game so far. Outside of story driven things, such as the asura racial story, you don't see much "magitech" in use by the main characters much.
Adamantium.3682
I guess everyone should stop complaining about Engineer being to melee focused if they're going to vote for another melee weapon!Joking aside, that's a lot more votes for mace than I expected. Something ranged I would like. I think another DPS spec would be boring and repetitive so I would like it to be supportive. I voted crossbow but anything with range would be fine with me. Malhavoc Adhamar.3675
A support role with a shortbow would be good or turning it into a mine launcher so engineers have marks or weapon based traps. Only issue with a ranged weapon is making sure it doesn't have a similar theme to Mortar or Grenade kit so I doubt we'd see a techno ranger with rocket arrows. cat.8975
Thematically, Golemancer sounds cool. Realistically, do we really want another spec built around AI?We have turrets and gyros already, do we need a third?

What would torch do that OH pistol doesn't, and why would you want to be forced to use MH pistol? Or more likely, be forced to play rifle for yet another elite spec because p/t is trash.Seriously, they'd better not be foisting more single-handed weapons on us (main hand or especially off hand) without either making it both main and off hand, or else giving core engineer more weapons and buffing shield.Besides, we still need a ranged option. mnpksage.4290
A minion-based engineer that uses a staff as a sort of antenna and sends out robots to fight would be a lot of fun
Chaith.8256
Something ranged without A.I please and thank you. We have turrets and Gyros, ArenaNet please ignore the people wanting Golems and Gundam miniatures to fight for us.Not to say a golemancer couldn't work, but only if it focused on using golem theme tech and parts to enhance the Engineer's attacks and physical body. I think it works for most, but for engineers and revenants, there really needs to be at least one more baseline for the system to work.
