I have an idea! The turrets are insufficient because they cannot move, what if they could move?I think it would be good for both engi and players, can you make the turrets move pls?Like in the picture (the picture does not fit well, but you get the point)please rate this!

I am afraid there is no picture :scream:

What do you mean with moving exactly?

  • like a pet (follows us)
  • like a gyro (moves with us)
  • like a robot (moves on a pre-defined line/circle)

Turrets are a bit too fragile to sustain any real damage, so giving them the ability to move could actually improve the situation. They definitely need a rework sooner or later, so every suggestion regarding this topic is helpful. Could you give some more details?

Who are we kidding, Anet will never rework turrets. They probably gave up on them a long time ago and just hope at this point that players forget they exist in the first place.

If skills are completely unviable for so many years in every single game mode and nothing is done about it, you shouldn't expect them to suddenly care....

True, but also... Spirit Weapons. Their functionality was changed with the Path of Fire pre-patch (alongside many other traits and utilities). We can only hope a similar thing happens for turrets with End of Dragons.

Even if they can't make turrets viable in WvW or PvP, I hope that ANet could at least make them useable in end-game PvE, so that core engineer has more than one accessible utility type (Kits) in that gamemode.

Since we can't overcharge multiple times:I would suggest adding the ammo system to the turrets.
Bring back the knockback when destroyed maybe with an internal cd so is not OP.Lastly, they could add the trait that allowed you to ground target turrets (can't remember the name).

Idea. Can we just go full Mechanicus and have the turrets become weapon arms that we attach to ourselves? Like running around with a robot arm on your shoulder that can fire a laser or block projectiles every now and then. They would still be turrets, but rather than them being deployed on the ground, they could be deployed on ourselves, with their overcharge intact. The detonation could result in for instance lauching your arm at the enemy for an explosion or something like that.Heck, that might even gel well with the new elite specc, if it becomes a mech specc, which seems to be what many people who voted in the other thread wants.

Originally turrets were great bunker down skills. You could rely on them when things got tough. Then Lake Dorrek META happened, engineer's bunker down was able to just sit there in the centaur camp and farm leather like crazy. Basically Anet nerfed the turrets, they're now meant to be used as disposable wares with none of their original flare or design intact. It would be nice to have them move or just be an extension of the engineer like a servo arm or the like. They get destroyed by a strong sneeze anymore.

The best thing they could do for turrets is just attach them to the Engineer, like Wells work now. So you'd be running around and the little Rocket Turret on your back would be firing rockets at some poor ambient deer just trying to eat some grass.

The difference between Gyros and Turrets is Gyros would be pulsing fields while Turrets would be attack vectors.

While we're at it, do the same thing with Ventari's tablet on Revenant.

Or, they could have Turrets changed to where they are deployed, do their job, and then automatically detonate. If it was set up this way, then the actions they perform while deployed good be greatly buffed to actually be useful. They could also add in the knockback on detonation. The reflect bubbles from the Experimental Turrets would still function as normal, and the buffs applied from the trait could be changed to apply for longer durations at more frequent intervals or something of the sort.

This way, Turrets could actually be useful, wouldn't require significant changes to traits, wouldn't be AI that is despised by Anet and the PvP community, and wouldn't be just like Gyros currently are.
