Adventuring Daily still bugged

Another year of SAB, another year of the Adventuring daily still being terribly inconsistent.
Just ran it with a friend, I got credit, he did not. Both in the instance from start to finish
In previous years I've also run it solo and not got credit. I do not leave the instance and wait for the counter, still sometimes fails.
What gives?

Stand next to the chest and wait for the next map to load - it's only awarded to players within a certain range when the timer expires, and isn't available on infantile mode.
