Elementalist always. No other class connects to me or satisfies me more. I love controlling the elements and arcane power. The endless attunement switching and vast arsenal of skills and abilities to use and build with. I love all the weps they have. The versatility, AOE's, melee and range proficiency, devastating offense and formidable defense, eye-candy skills and abilities, armor designs and skins, balance of direct damage and conditions, Tempest and Weaver, everything about them.

    Guardian.

I've spent a lot of time deciding my main when I started to play GW2 and as a result only vanilla Guard had this overal feeling I loved. Especially greatsword abilities.

Then HoT came and I've spend leveling every profession to 80 to unlock elite specs. And while I had short moments of thinking that something can be better than my guard (I hated dragonhunter at the very beginning but l2p and started to love it a lot) but it ended up I returned to play my good old main.

And now with PoF the same happened - I didn't like the idea of firebrand, unlocked all elites, played mostly Mirage and thought "hey finally I'll switch my main". But... nope! I gave firebrand more time due to guard nostalgia and played it despite I didn't like it. And after a short time it grew on me and boom - once again I'm playing almost exlusively on my guard and loving it.

PS: This also helped me to decide on my new goal - get wvw heavy legendary armor for my guard.

I used to main a Necro, then Reaper (power) for years but gave up on Necro after the August 8 trait nerfs. Engi was my secondary main and now my only main! Engi (core) is the only profession I still truly enjoy in this game.

Since each year gives different items, the dye packs in later years could save a lot of coin instead of buying them from the TP (like the shadow dyes).

With the exception of revenant, I played a few hundred hours of the other professions but they hover around 500 hours each. My revenant don't even have 100 hours.

My preferred prof is mesmer, like it already was in GW1. I have 5 of them, each playing different weapons. I have needed time to feel good with other professions, but I am a very slow learner, so it is not surprising. However, by now, I have one strong char in each profession at least and enjoy them all. Revenant was the last one I could not cope with. Thanks to Renegade, I found a way to play that I finally enjoy. Now fact is that I am definitely better at casters than melee... :3

So, nowadays, I play with all professions, mostly depending on activities. What made me stop playing mesmer only was that I got stuck at final primary of Lake Doric LS. I had been able to solo all storylines up to that specific primary, but my mesmer could never get rid of that one. This is what forced me to start playing with other professions. At the time, I was frustrated, but now, I am thankful it happened, because I really enjoyed to be able to take whatever prof based on moods and needs. :)

I'm out of my mind, feel free to leave a message...

Thief is so much fun. I used to play a condition ranger as my main. One of my friends started a thief. And grouping with him was like grouping with a blender. I couldn't believe how fast stuff was dying. So I rolled a thief (daredevil), instantly fell in love and never touched my ranger again.

Thief is SO survivable (esp. With invigorating precision). The damage is SO sick. The mobility is SO high. And the rotation is so easy. It's just exhilarating to start cleaving mobs, look at the DPS meter, and see ridiculous numbers like 56k popping up. I don't have any interest in any other profession.

  • Mesmer

+3k hours on mesmer (in gw2) about +2k hours on mesmer in gw1 - might have to verify that but can't log in atm. I'm guessing half of it on either is spent "afk" bantering in misc cities all over Tyria.

That is until the weaver, and now that same condition build is freaking awesome, frequently hit 20+ stacks of burning and 60+ stacks of bleeding at the same time. I couldn't even hit 20 of either on the base ele, let alone more than that from both at the same time.

My second favorite is Engineer, closely followed by Thief.

  • Ranger

I have 23 characters with multiples of every profession with the exception of Engineer. I only have one of those. Ranger is my "go to" class whenever I want to try something new such as my first steps into HoT or PoF. Although I don't claim any expertise - I am more of a jack of all trades and master of none - I am most comfortable with my rangers. The ranger was the first one I created back when I started. It will always be my favourite.

Ranger was my first real character in the game (that I didn't delete). I enjoyed it for a LONG time, but I just don't like the look of axes, torches or the stinkbeast aura... so condi is a real nogo. Berserker Ranger feels like a joke in PvE (compared to other classes), so I haven't been able to play it as of late.

  • Ranger

Ranger, Ele, then Mesmer. My Ranger has been my main since GW 1. I still have fond memories of playing a Splinter Barrage Ranger in Tomb of the Primeval Kings. I recently moved from my Power Druid to the more favored condi Druid and it's reignited my love for the class again. Ele was always a very close second, in this game and the last. As for Mesmer, I think I prefered it more in GW 1. It was such a skill based class. I also have a particularly good memory of placing Empathy, and Sig of Midnight on a Burst Assassin in Alliance battles. He died in less than five seconds, while my Mes was untouched. Good stuff.

No quick way to see how long you have played each profession. You need to log into a character and do /age in chat to see the number of hours it has been played. Repeat this for all of your characters of that single profession and add up the hours to see how much you've played that profession. Repeat for each other profession you have characters of. I expect 20 seconds to1 or 2 minutes to note play times for each character depending on where they are located and thus how long it takes to load into them.

    Necro. Reason?
    1. I prefer not to play classes that keeps running away when it gets difficult. I either win or lose, and do not want to need hundreds of tries to get someone down.
    2. I do not rely on cheap skills like endure pain or any form of invul, extreme dodges, stealth, spamable teleport, or a massiv combination of those.
    3. I prefer to burst someone with both condi and direct dmg.
    4. I like lots of Aoes, like a lot of them.
    5. I prefer midline classes, that can pull off melee and range dmg decently.
    6. I like control effects for more than one person.
    7. I like classes that requires good positioning.
    8. I like a class that can play different game modes.
    9. I like dark classes.

  • Mesmer

Mesmer because who doesn’t like controlling reality and space/time lol!

  • Warrior

Warrior, because others are fleeing, kiting and hiding cowards.

But heh, that's what arena net like.

    7th november patch proves it.

Buff on all of them, nerf on warriors, even pve warriors.

    Fail.
