If the gods had come to help fight the dragons

I mean sure, their own power might have a huge clash with the dragons to cause some big disasters. But they could have come and use their knowledge/servants to help the mortal races.
With their knowledge and technology, the fight could have been much easier. Had Lyssa been there, many of Zhaitan's mesmer minions would not have worked at all.

Even Balthazar didn't use his god power to fight the dragons head on as well, he tried to get the machine to kill Primordus and Jormag, then used Kralkatorrik's weakness against it as well.

This is speculation, but based on Kormir's journal stating that she believes we're screwed no matter what, the implication seems to be that they think our plan to replace the dragons also wouldn't work. If that's the case, then the gods providing resources to make us more effective at killing dragons would just speed up us killing dragons and, as a result, ourselves. If the gods truly are planning on transplanting their worshipers once they find another suitable world, then they want to play for time, not speed things along; if they aren't, then all their aid would amount to is tragically false hope and assisted self-destruction.

In that case (I'd forgotten those journals), then maybe we FIGHT their armies when they try to take humanity to a new world? Maybe we get an update on charr relations and why they, as well as other races, would fight to keep humans...

If only the gods had sent their servants to help Destiny's Edge, Glint's plan would have succeeded. Even Taimi's machine could put 2 dragons back to sleep. With the gods' help it would be much easier.

Also if they could have laid us a hand, Scarlet's onslaught would have failed and Mordremoth could still be sleeping.

Had Lyssa been there, many of Zhaitan's mesmer minions would not have worked at all.We don't know how much the Six actually know, or how helpful they could've been in any one situation without directly interfering. These are beings of immense power, and while they did teach humans how to use magic long ago, they haven't had much in the way of direct conflict in eons. Short of Balthazar, I don't think any of them had any real battle experience since Abaddon, and that showed them that god battles on the mortal plane turns it into a wasteland.@Slowpokeking.8720 said:Even Balthazar didn't use his god power to fight the dragons head on as well, he tried to get the machine to kill Primordus and Jormag, then used Kralkatorrik's weakness against it as well.Balthazar didn't have god powers at any point we saw him. While he still had a lot of strength and magic, enough to defeat puny mortals, he didn't have nearly the strength he did when he was an official part of the pantheon. He had to start using other methods to fight the dragons, such as the technology we see him using. If he had still been at full power, he probably would've stood toe-to-talon with Kralkatorrik, and Vabbi would be a bigger crater than Bloodstone Fen.

Of course they got vast knowledge of magic.

That's nonsense, even Abaddon and Dhuum still got tons of power, their power could not be take away.

They probably know enough to have been a big help without directly intervening, actually. Most of the Durmand Priory's knowledge of the Elder Dragons comes from the Scroll of the Five True Gods (which is incomplete), they knew that killing the dragons risked destabilising the world's magic, and they probably knew about Glint's legacy. It probably would not have required much of a nudge from them to be able to stop Scarlet from awakening Mordremoth and to push suitable heroes of Tyria towards the Legacy earlier than in the canonical timeline, giving Aurene (or Vlast!) the opportunity to absorb the magic from Zhaitan's death before it became necessarily to kill a second Elder Dragon.

I have a feeling that we don't have all of the answers when it comes to the gods. The leaving of the Mists, and leaving their followers behind to be attacked and tortured by creatures of the Mists doesn't really fit their nature, especially Grenth, who desires to see spirits reach their fair judgement. It just feels unnecessary and strange, and I don't think it was Anet trying to write the gods out of the story. They were already out of the story of the game. There was no reason to bring them back unless they planned to use them.

But following that line of thought to its conclusion... if the Six knew about the plan (which seems more than likely- one of Glint's memory crystals even states that the Forgotten told the gods more than they told Glint), and if Kormir believes the world is doomed, then the logical inference is that the gods believed Glint's legacy wouldn't work.

That raises the question of why. They can't believe the dragons can't be brought down. Kormir directly acknowledged it as a possibility when laying out their reasoning, and besides, she must know that we've now killed two. But the legacy plan isn't complicated; if the gods knew that dragons could be brought down but still believed it'd destroy the world, the only way they could come to that conclusion is if they had reason to believe Glint and her offspring couldn't successfully take their place. Maybe they didn't think these junior dragons could fill the larger shoes, maybe they didn't think that Glint could produce enough dragonlings or that the children would be too young, maybe they believed that there was too high a likelihood of the replacements dying before they could take their place, maybe the imbalance created during the transfers of power would be enough to destroy Tyria anyway. But for whatever reason, the Six seem to believe that the basic premise of our current plan, that Aurene can replace an Elder Dragon, is flawed.
