Error Code: 42:0:9001:4402

I've been trying to log in to the game but all I got is "The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network. For additional support, please visit http://support.guildwars2.com."I played yesterday and everything was fine, so why? I'm on the same laptop, the same place and the same internet. I tried to re-install but it doesn't do anything, still the same.

Perhaps it is due to the recent DDoS attacks.

Bumping this issue because this is the code I am getting tonight after a new build re log and got kicked from game and can't get back in now due to this error. What might this be from?

Its everyone that's gotten the patch. They posted in a couple of other threads and on twitter they are working on it.

Yup same code .. Every time I try to log in it says this:

EVERY time.. :( but only today ... since the patch I guess? Been down for about 2 hours now or more (I tried to jump on about less than 2 hours ago and kept trying periodically... no luck. Same error every time.)

Also appears when there are server problems on ArenaNet's side, such as too much traffic according to https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Error_code

found a fix,

open command prompt (windows, find cmd)

type the below :ipconfig /flushdns

close command prompt, restart gw2 app.

works like magic.

That doesn't fix it, it's just intermittently failing and it happened to randomly work for you that time.

I'm still having this issue on my main account is anyone else still having it?

Connectivity Wise you'll want to do the following:-Ensure Anti Virus Exception/Exclusion-Check Ports (80, 443, and 6112 )-Check Firewall (Windows,Routers,Modem)-Flush DNS-Winsock Reset

i have too this error and have big ping 4.000 avg 3500

Login servers appear to be down currently. People are making noise about it on the subreddit.

I had been in the game for a couple hours. Logged out for a moment to check on something, went right back in and after running around for a minute got a message about this error. Noticing that I couldn't see anyone on my friend's list who was logged on, I decided to log back out and now can't get in at all.

Seen error code in game, and had a hard time trying to log in.

Im getting it too.

I was ingame, then was suddently kicked out with an "incorrect password" error message (go figure….).

Now unable to log back in, with the same error message as the OP.

I can get in but i get this error message when using the looking for group.

I tried to log into the game and am getting the same issue (though my login information worked correctly on the website).

Well, now if I try to connect at ANET account the message is that the e-mail or password is incorrect... but I'm still connected here... hope ANET fix this fast...

Also having problem with this but I can play the game, most of the time. Just I can't find groups and sometimes the invite is wonky.

Yeah i haven't been able to log in since 2:00pm or so. I even looked at my firewall settings which haven't changed in years. This has happened to be before, seems like I just have to wait it out :(.
