PoF Specialization Collection Exotics

Recommended Posts

As I mentioned in the title, droprates of those are so low. The thing that makes GW2 different from other MMOs is it doesn't rely on luck, it relies on your effort that you put in the game. And I think those items shouldn't drop randomly, they should have a way to get them without hoping to be lucky, but working on it to get it. Same goes with most things.

Totally agree, I have 6 characters that only need the exotic weapon to drop to complete them, but with my luck with drops I doub't I'll get them to drop and they're way to expensive on the TP as i don't have much gold as I hate grinding and farming and like playing the game by following missions and quests. The weapons should be availble through quests/missions like the other items and like the HoT specilized weapons collections were. The collections were a very good way of getting ascended weapons without having to grind or farm for gold, as they could be earned just by playing thre game, but now that is ruined.

It's a mix of rewards. Some acquisitions are about effort, some about skill, a tiny fraction about being lucky, and an even tinier number for being at the right place/time. As long the last two categories remain as small as they are, I like that some stuff is unlikely to be obtained just because one person can grind out more patiently than the next player.

Prices will go down. The negative is , in my opinion, most ppl play in full ascneded anyways, why make the exotics so rare they make persuing the content a chore instead of fun? I play for fun. not to get back and kill the same champions each day and call it fun...

PoF was a nice story. a small grind to get my masteries and specialisations and now I'm doing fgracrtals HoT meta and raids again, with an occasional sidestep to vanilla maps for dailies.

And PoF now? Nope... it's lost it's sparkle within 3 weeks.

Anyway.. HoT at start was almost the same. People cried about Gerent, Octovine etc. being impossible to complete. Now HoT is the "new standard".

The only problem I see here are the stats you can chose for those Ascended weapons you get as a reward. Only 3 options. Not very useful.

BTW. I'm not sure about crafting prices these days but for an ascended lvl item, these collections seems cheap.. and will probably get even more.

They won't. Yes, a lot of players are doing Halloween now, and will return to farming/other things once it has ended. On the other hand, PoF simply does not have that much of a replayability value, so the people are playing the maps less and less. And those that will return from doing Lab farming are more likely to go HoT/SW/Fractals/Raidings than PoF.

Also, the drop rate is really bad, and will likely never be able to catch up to demand. As such, the price is likely to continue rising even in the future.

entirely
because of the named sunspear weapons. That's just plain wrong.

Why? The collections’ ascended weapons have unique skins.

That's of course if you like how they look though. To be fair, I have no Elementalist, but I do like its elite sword for Weave. Not going to bother trying to get it though.

HoT had similar problems at lunch. Metas and the loot acquiring has been tweaked later on. Some even many months later. Exalted chests and noxious pods accessibility, broken events that blocked progress, enemies to strong to kill, maps too complex.. There were plenty of those.

Anyway, ANet has stated that they are aware of those issues. Wouldn't be surprised if today's patch fixed some of them. All this doom and gloom is annoying and serves nothing. It's HoT launch all over again. Can't wait for another "GW2 is dead thread"..

kinda contradicting yourself, if you say that players wont farm PoF because drops are bad and claim that these drops will continue to rise in value at the same time.

The thing that makes GW2 different from other MMOs is it doesn't rely on luck, it relies on your effort that you put in the game.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Lion_Chesthttps://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Precursor_weaponhttps://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_forgehttps://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tarrktunhttps://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Supreme_Rune_of_Holding

Yeah, right.

Now, to say again what was already said in multiple threads about the very same thing you complain about:

  1. If rng is not on your side buy the weapon from TP. It's 100% win ratio.
  2. No, the price on TP is not to expensive - you get ascended weapon with unique skin when finishing collection.
  3. If you feel you can't afford it now, craft normal ascended counterpart of the collection weapon until you get monies.

These weapons basically have 3 main faucets, The Chest of the first spear for completing the rare elonian weapon collection, unidentified gear and PoF champ bags.

The elonian weapon collection is easy to complete as it costs less than 10g, if you buy the weapons on the TP and as you get a choice from the chest reward, you can already complete 1 or 2 elite spec weapon collections.

If you think the droprate from Unid gear is too low, you can buff it yourself by temporarily boosting your magic find, when identifying. At 1k% mf, you are 10 times more likely to identify one of these weapons compared to 0% mf. If that is still too much RNG for you or your personal MF is too low, you have the option to sell your unids on the tp to other players, who are willing to pay a higher price for them compared to the average value you might get out of them because they apply more MF to ID process. You can use that extra gold from selling the Unids to purchase the weapon you want on the tp.

I think this is a great way to give players with low MF an opportunity to profit from the high MF of other players.

The 3rd option, pof champ bags, solely relies on rng but as it isnt the only faucet, it doesnt really matter.

I tried Metas in PoF yesterday (because of new reward) and for "Maws of Torment" event in Desolation i got Chest of Desert Specialist and i could choose one of these exotic named weapons needed for specialization collection. Im not sure if its random drop from Maws event or you always get the reward for finishing this event, probably it is random drop.

errr... no. It goes hand in hand. The supply continues to lag behind the demand, which causes the prices to creep upward over time as the lowest bid items get bought up. You see this happen all the time with items that have no farmable option, or are so rare that less then 50 units exist on the TP at any given time. With no incoming supply to underbid the existing postings, the only direction it can go is up in price.

I suspect they'll add a way to target them in the future. I'm not sure why the HoT spec weapons came into this. There is no comparison between the named weapons and HoT meta events. The only comparable item would be the Reclaimed metal plates. According to the wiki the chance for reclaimed metal plates is 1% for Fine, 3% for Masterwork and 100% for Rare. I believe from other threads I read that Rare unidentified gear has a 1.5% chance to be a named exotic. Even then you only have a 6/16 chance of receiving a useful one and possibly less of receiving the one(s) you need. Perhaps they'll add an exotic unidentified gear that gives you the choice of named weapon at some point, or tokens that can be traded in for them.
