Scourge + Unholy Sanctuary

So the trait Unholy Sanctuary states that if you would take lethal damage and your Life Force is above 10%, you enter shroud instead. Now in the Wooden Potatoes video on scourge (linked below, he mentions it at 36:50) he describes that traits which refer to "being in shroud" refer to the F5 Desert Shroud. Does this mean that if we would take lethal damage this trait force casts our F5, regardless if we would have had enough life force to cast the skill ordinarily or if its on cooldown, essentially meaning that we could get a 5k+ barrier for only 1.5-2k life force, plus the awesome damage that comes with? Has anyone tested this interaction?

Haven't tested... but I wouldn't think so. The "10% LF Pool" requirement is a requirement to enter Shroud itself, not a qualifier of the skill. There was a bug of the save ability going on CD, so any built in trigger on the skill would have simply been to stop it from going on CD. Considering that they'd need to tweak mechanics for it to trigger F5 instead of F1, I would hope that they'd make sure the skill doesn't go on CD unless you have 3685 LF for it to trigger.

There is also the question of what happens if it triggers while you are already actively in Desert Shroud?

While there is debate as to how much a 5k blip when there's enough pressure to tear through you 20-30k HP and other gains would help, this skill is one I wouldn't be surprised if it has a bevvy of bugs come live.

Yeah, this trait seems it activate F5 now. I thought its completely pointless, but it turns out its decent. The healing is still useless. It need to scale a lot better with heal power or the healing should be 3 times higher, in the range of 350-500.The 10% is the minimum requirement to enter shroud, technically its less then that, but anyway. This makes for cheaper F5 and could be a really good barrier at the right moment. Overall this trait is better with Scourge. However, its in Death Magic, which need overhaul. Its to weak to use unless you run MM...

@Drarnor Kunoram.5180 said:It procs F5, but it requires 25% life force to trigger. It is absolutely terrible on Scourge and in no way should you ever consider it.

If you've personally tested this and can confirm the requirement of 25% that makes this trait quite underpowered. Does it consume the LF when procced through this trait or do you at least keep that? :anguished:

It consumes the life force. And yes, I personally tested it.

Kinda doubt it. It's effectively a free 7 seconds of Regeneration when you would, you know, die. The barrier that you get doesn't even last the full duration, so you typically only recover about 500 health, which is nowhere near enough to keep you from immedietly going down again.

On Necro and Reaper, Unholy Sanctuary can protect your health for long enough to actually do something about your situation, whether it's pressuring your opponent off or recovering enough you can survive to use your Heal skill. On Scourge...not so much.

You diminish it's value by a large margin. With core/reaper this trait is indeed lame. You enter shroud and are instantly "spit' out of it. You indeed avoid the lethal damage, but you die in the next 1-2 sec. With Scourge the barrier gives you 3-4 times more defensive value + all the pressure from the F5. Especially effective against melee opponents. On top of that while in Desert Shroud you can activate different weapon skills and utilities, the shroud itself is instant cast and works automatically.

You clearly didn't play with it on Scourge. It is vastly better with regular Shroud in practice.

For every time it triggers from you being out of life force, it also triggers when you have plenty of life force and shroud is just on cool down.

As bad as it is on regular Shroud, it is waaaay worse on Scourge. Why would they care about the pressure when they down you in another two hits and can back out of range after?
