what happened to Moa

Holosmith completely out performs scrapper and core engineer but it can't use moa since photon forge replaces the elite toolbelt skill. Mirage significantly out performs chronomancer, and without continuum split, the cool-down on moa is pretty insane, plus jaunt is really good.

To add to that, killing a moa'd scourge supported by a firebrand is really tough, while killing a moa'd firebrand through scourge counter pressure, is also really tough. Generally just not an effective counter unless engi can get both of them with elixir, but even then the short duration moa is pretty easy to survive through most of the time.

Scourge counters engie fairly hard and their use of moa is a lot less frequent than a scourges F2 win button. Mesmer has Jaunt now which is generally more applicable for every scenario. Also, moa isn't as effective against Scourge than other necros because Moa Morph's ability to counter necro was derived from it's ability to force the necro out of shroud and Scourges don't have a shroud but instead use barrier, which moa morph doesn't remove. On top of that I'm not sure if moa removes Sand Shades, if it doesn't then Scourge can still do work in moa mode.

Moa was nerfed into the ground. In addition, it's totally unreliable since it's now dodgeable and blockable. Moa has a hoorendous casting time as well as a long CD... and if you do manage to land it, it's not going to last long enough for a kill.

It's sad, Moa was once Mesmer's signature skill, now it's just not good enough for practical use. I believe ANET deliberately pushed this skill out of use.

First double moa blew too many long cd's to be used often.

Second Moa doesn't land the vast majority of the time since it's blockable and dodgeable. As the Mesmer community predicted, most moas simply fail due to passive blocks if the long cast is successful and the opponent fails to dodge with a full 1/2 second warning.

And then, if you do land the hit it's not likely to be enough time to kill the target. Moa has been made unusable for PvP.

If it hadn't.. I don't think Scourge would be running rampant, nor would DH have done.

You can deny it all you want but it was used a lot due to cs and fact that it rendered necros useless.

Moa was balanced around Chrono so when everyone complained at Moa being overpowered on the cool down of continuum split, rather than nerfing the duration of Moa and likewise reducing the cool down they just nerfed the duration and made it so you can’t cast it behind you or without LoS. So now the base skill is absolute garbage as at 6s it cannot guarantee a kill because of the defensive options built into Moa form and the ability to dodge while moa’d while also having a 3 minute cool down. It should be a 100s cool down.

Also jaunt is better for mirage as a short range teleport, cleanse and condition application on a 20s CD.
