Wozmack the Wonderful's Studies

I want more Wozmack, he's entertaining. You get a bit more of him as a human noble, but otherwise that's the last time you see him (that i remember).

I actually want more npc's of various classes doing non-combat things (i even started a post on the old forums asking what those things could be), and entertainment has been a mesmer niche since prophecies (what's their face with the theatre).

Not sure his magic has anything to do with mirages however.

I absolutely adore the NPCs of this game, and the trains of interactions they've had over the years. <3

refracted light: how we get different colorsmirage: a refraction of light from the sky by heated air

Wozmack is shown to be intesively studying these things. The new elite Mirage theme is all about the way light works in the desert with the sand and sky, creating optical illusions and distorting light and color.

Hence, he was studying Mirage before it was cool. ;P

A couple of misconceptions.

First, the name of the elite specialisation does not completely reflect the lore mechanics of their specialisation. They don't use light at all, in fact the mirage cloak distorts space around the mirage, and other facets of what make mirage magic work is the literal sand of the desert, which has accumulated magic over the years.

Mirages in no way manipulate light itself to accomplish their feats. Not that they are incapable of such, as wozmack is able to do so as a mesmer and mirages are mesmers, but the specific magic used by mirages distorts literal space and uses magical sand of the crystal desert. The name only created a theme for what the elite specialisation is (and they play on that theme with the name of the utility skills, deceptions, alongside the 'are they really there' theme related to their mirage cloak), it does not indicate their ability to manipulate light.

Which honestly would have been just as cool, if not cooler.

Wozmack went first to the jungle entertaining on one of the airships. I believe he can still be found near the wreck of Faren's Flyer. More recently, he's been seen in Lava Lounge in The Fire Islands.

I really enjoyed his show in the human Noble personal story. The story could use more of him for flavor.

@Castlemanic.3198: A mirage and the similar vigia are caused by diffraction. Heat or moisture change the properties of the atmosphere. As you look through the area your line of sight is literally bent. So, you see the sky on the desert or a distant island raised above the horizon. This is a form of distortion. So the distortion of Mirage Cloak is wholly appropriate.

On this subject it's interesting to note the use of mirrors to do the same thing. Houdini's (semi ) famous Elephant Vanish almost certainly used an angled mirror to distort the audience's line of sight. This type of illusion is well known. Mirage Mirror is a great idea on that score. I have serious doubts about it's usability as a combat tool... but flavor-wise it's right on cue.

I don't see the connection. Mesmer magic has always been purple, and he never phased while dodging or held an axe that I saw.
