About these new power soulbeast builds

i just noticed that there seem to be lately multiple videos showing that aparently power soulbeast has gotten enough power to gain a slot as one of the dps classes in fractals 40 farming

here is a few

wanted to know your opinion about them, might the be good enough to use for overall endgame for escenarios like say, raids or other dps race battles?

this is what i hate about soulbeast - an e spec for not aranger players... i mean he camp no pet , pet is ranger mechanic and if you dont like it you shouldnt play the class. before pof i heard alot of craying about pet like i would like to play ranger but pet is suck. imagine if ill say iwould like to play a warrior but i hate adrenaline i mean how rediculas that sound?( if idont like adrenaline ican play gurd etc...) and soulbeast it is just the oppsite .. its like hey you want to play ranger but hate pet ? there you go

i don't know, if pets would be smarter at least against pve mobs, had what ranger lacks (cleave and aoe), and the player wouldn't be punish every time he swaps or use the merging by losing all the boons and benefits, SB players would be more inclined to swap in and out.

Ranger and SBs are very badly designed, and the fact that anet only came with the idea of forcing you to play a rediculous mechanic just to make the gameplay a nightmare doesn't help.

And this is a horrible way to criticize soulbeast.

We all knew this would happen with soulbeast in pve. Any significant bonus to the ranger in exchange for the pet would help its dps in pve. Maybe you instead should be pleased by how this highlights one of the issues with the class. And no, permanent merging isn't a problem, that's an option that comes with the spec. It would only be a problem if that was the optimal way to play the spec in all other game modes - it's not.

As for the video, no surprise power soulbeast has a place in short burst encounters.

Not getting the boons of your pet isnt what keeps players camp Bmode.Its the horrible DPS/abbilities pets have.Vanilla pets just suck.CD are way to high for pet abbilities. F2 are pretty bad or just undertuned.Pets dont have useful stats i.e. Moas dont have a single point in healing power.Just havent been touched for years and are outdated -> porcinesDont hit reliable and just have a different crit calculation so tgey do not even have the same percentage increase if they have spotter etc etc.

Pets just need buffs.Anet should just put 1 balance patch out where the ranger part just consists of improving pets.

As for the video, no surprise power soulbeast has a place in short burst encounters.

This. power soulbeast or power ranger never really stopped being used in fractals up to T4 because in short encounters it works well enough. A lot of people will scream "meta" this or that but they tend to be full of it. Any time you're on a longer encounter like in raids though, condi will always outdps a power build especially when mechanics and movement are involved.

Pet use was strictly optional for rangers in GW1, and many of us chose not to use it. The fact that the sequel game requires you to use a pet even though it's suboptimal much of the time has always been a problem. The fact that they're finally correcting that problem is a good thing.

And pets are still the mechanic of Soulbeast. It is not Soulbeasts fault you don't understand the spec.

Nonsense. Rangers started in GW1 and pet's were always optional.Actually, they even required the investment of one of your skill slots to have them out.

So, no. By default rangers were not a pet class. It was only on GW2 they decided to attach them, much to the dismay of many who enjoyed other ranger play styles.Soulbeast is a great in between solution, but I still miss the kindle/preparation spiker ranger gameplay.

There is a lot to be gained via merge, IMHO, especially with traits in the BM line. 25% movement speed (freeing up slot for something useful other than the movement signet), buff to stats, ability to generate might on each crit, and the rather nice regen from natural healing. I don't camp beastmode to get RID of the pet, I camp it because it offers me MORE than the pet does off on its own for the way that I particularly have built, and play this character. (she's a beast that's hard to down, that's for certain).

I still run a ranger WITH pet as well, my druid toon.

The Soulbeast is just far more fun and appealing to play, especially in the desert.

Well, the main problem is that BM (even it is the only traits line who has a synergy with Beastmode/Soulbeast) is not the best option for Soulbeast , at least not in WvW or sPVP. And this is a very wrong thing, which Anet did. Usual you make a synergy with something who should be best option for a class/specialisation. That's why even Soulbeast with core traits is a good class in pvp (sPVP and WvW), it is still broken (in bad way) because we don't use all stances and BM is not a mandatory trait line ...

I can see where it might be very different! I pretty much exclusively play PvE mode, unless I need a Gift of Battle for a legendary, and when I do pop into WvW to follow yaks around, it's always been on my warrior, and fractals I do with my druid. :D I probably should have mentioned that my perspective is solely through the PvE experience. That said, the point I was trying to make was more about beastmode with BM offering more (at least in PvE, where more folks do tend to camp beastmode) than the base game pets, rather than WANTING to actually be petless ranger. Which comes back to the entire flawed design of the basegame pets and their bad pathing etc.

Not only buffs but real numbers in 'life'.

Pets melt so much faster in WvW than in PvE - that's not by accident.
