Why is there weighted mmr in a team game?

Seriously, why is it that you win so few points but lose so many in this game. You still need to win more games than you lose to climb, so why does it need to be even further skewed by winning half the points that you would lose per game.

This is a team game, you have no control over the other 4 people and if you happen to get a team comp that's awful and no one will switch, now you have to win 2-3 games to make up for one loss. This matchmaking system can heavily punish you for things completely out of your control.

Um no, this won't be enough actually.

Well, that gonna depend on your matches, you still can get plenty points per win and just lose few, while playing against top10 players.

Quaggan must be god to win vs top 10 players while having gold teammates himself o.o

Thats not really true you can look at people's records in the top 250 there are many with win rates below that. Also, the fact that anybody wins 66% (or more) of there matches shows you how bad this whole system works. Thats not how its suppossed to work at all. You are suppossed to find your level and then win roughly half your games. Even an elite player after plowing his way to the top should be facing other elite players and only winning around half the time. Many players with high win percetages like 65%+ means small player base with few really good players and bad matchmaking. If they allowed longer queues and forced people in matches with only players in there immediate MMR range no one would win 66% of the time. Sadly no one plays this game so they can't do that without exploding the queue.

Looking at the points for win/loss I think that the balance is pretty adequate. The idea is that you more or less keep gaining points, maybe win 75% of your matches as you rise up in rank until you get to your skill level (gold/plat/etc.) at which point your win/loss begins to level out so overall you stop rising. The system in GW2 is pretty good compared to other games. A while back I played FW where the pvp was always ranked and only open for 3 hours a day (no seasons). The point gain/loss became harder as you progressed towards cap (3000 points). A loss in the last 500 point bracket could cost you as much as 40 points and a win was not more than 2. 99% of groups were pre-made. A far harsher system requiring top teams to have a very high win ratio.
