Competitive game modes need attention too.

Recommended Posts

I think all game modes get a fair amount of attention. competitive got new elite specialisations out of the HoT expansion. Heart of the mists had a major update in june (including the new arena). They changed the mechanics and rotation for WvW and also add gliding there.

Maybe instead of complaining you don't get enough attention, state what you would like to see changed. I think the teams working on content are more likely to hear what you like them to improve then to hear how (in your opinion) bad they are doing.

The free for all does nothing other than past time. WvW has more problems than just new map skins. HoT was 3 years ago. The same PVP game modes, dance around the circle have been the same since the beginning of time.

I am not "complaining"...I am asking the question that the competivive community has ask over and over..just more direct..and hopefully more politely. I won't spend another penny on this game until they fix what I, and probally 30-40% of the playerbase likes to do (at least occasionally)...PVP.

I would by 120$ gems.. if the game modes I like got a proper balance, new objectives, and less incentive to be care free.

They problem is also that they add things people never asked for (like gliding or the horrible DBL) and chalk that up to "improvements". Skill balancing and a plan are what's needed. I hear raids are only done by a small amount of the population but not only did Anet create that game mode, they've release several wings. How about using those resources on the other modes?

wrong game... just play some power creep gimmick if u want to "be good" by the unique definition of what means to be good in this game and farm some ranks and titles...

If Anet is preparing something expect between april 2018 and end of 2018 for some minimal changes...

Seeing how when expansions come out, the competitive people get the elite class right out the gate without doing anything, and it seems get those new stats and sigils/runes and such, I'm not sure what the problem is.

Unless you mean you want like new modes other than Stronghold/Conquest/WvW?Because Technically in PvE, all we get usually is the same as PvP/WvW as we get the elite class (need hero points for it though) and we don't really get new modes. Just new maps. Not sure if PvP gets any new maps or not as I never play it, but I assume like that Crystal Desert in WvW was always there? Or if not, I only noticed it after PoF and went "Oh, I see animals/creatures from PoF here. Cool."

Also will be biased here and will blame PvP/WvW for holding PvE back.

When there are enough people who want to play that modes to justify further development.

Increasing the rewards would help.....oh wait!

If you have to bribe people into playing something, then it isn't worth having it. Rewards should be upped for the things people already want to do.

The rewards are already fine (in WvW at least; haven't played enough PvP to compare). The problem is the game mode just isn't very good, because playing to win is an exercise in frustration and futility. So we're in the absurd position where you can only enjoy WvW if you don't care that much about it.

They did up the rewards and make changes within the last 3 months, 6 months/8 months.

That made pvp way worse than it was before. So did PoF as well. Literary the only reason those specs were made so brokenly OP so pvp'ers were forced to buy xpac. Anet turned wvw/pvp in p2win. Did those really make pvp/wvw that much more enjoyable? Hardly.

I don't think it's a matter of how many people play those modes. WvW at least gets loads of players across all worlds. And sPVP has lots of players playing too, it's not about numbers, it's more about making money out of those. You can play WvW and sPVP without spending anything, even as a free player. The elite specs are the obvious carrot to buy the expansions, but especially for general WvW they aren't needed. They tried to make Stronghold a thing, and sell Mist Champion skins on the gem store, but since Stronghold failed to achieve greatness so did the idea of selling Mist Champion skins. They added Gliding in WvW to entice players to buy Heart of Thorns, and soon they may add Mounts too. There is no extra money from these modes, and if anything sPVP drained money with the advertisements, pro league prize pools and so on.Unless they find a proper way of funding the competitive modes, they won't get much attention.
