Do free players unlock the living world episode?

I was just wondering...Living world episodes are unlocked by just logging on when that particular episode is active.

So, do free players unlock the episode too, and then when they buy PoF have access to it or do they need to first buy PoF to be able to unlock the episode?

It should unlock on their account, but they can't play it until they buy the XP, IIRC.

You do unlock it by playing while it's the current content, but you cannot play until you own the relevant expansion. The moment you buy Path of Fire is the moment you can play the living story worlds you missed.

So they already have it now, and if they buy PoF in 3 moths or something, they won't have to buy the LS episode, it'll be unlocked right?

EDIT: I mean, i know it's the expansion content and free players are core tyria only, but i'm just wondering, if someone were to buy PoF later now, would they have all the LS episodes they missed unlocked cause they were logged in but didn't have PoF at the time, or would they have to buy the episode.

You unlock the episodes, but need the expansion to play them.
