Engineer for soloing?

I've never had an Engineer toon but am considering making one. But I'm almost exclusively a solo PvE player. Is this do-able or not, and if so, any suggestions for builds and equipment appreciated. Thanks!

Engineer is a great choice for solo. Scrapper is eve better once you get that unlocked. You have a lot of flexibility with what works, but personally, I always found a flamethrower build with Juggernaut to be strong for open world stuff. Also, taking rocket boots with the Tools trait line gives you a ton of accessibility due to the permanent swiftness from Streamlined Kits. Below are two examples of what I like to run. These are probably best with power, but you can tweak them a bit to work with condi gear as well.

No problem! Just be aware that while this is a great build for solo, it's not that great for instanced content and you'll want to nab something from MetaBattle for that kinda stuff. Good luck!

Good to know. My Elem already gets whomped in instances, so I'm used to that feeling. Then my Necro goes in and is all-powerful. ;-)

Use meta condi for solo - perma blind mobs and heavy dmg + perma swiftness.

If you don't want piano, use power scrapper with commander gear. Use elixir H, elixir B, elixir U. Scrapper line 2-3-3, alchemy and inventions like pvp scrapper. Now you should have perma 8 boon bruiser. I find this chill build better for solo content then FT. This will offer great defense (perma protection/regen/stab/bunker down/1800+-toughness) and great dmg (perma fury, 25might, quickness). Weakness is ranged option (elixir gun) and low cc deal.
