Yup, if you have them use these: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tome_of_KnowledgeIf you don't have any, things get more tricky. The lvl 80 booster in the gem store isn't worth its cost. Especially not for 20 measly levels. You could level cooking and jeweler for the last remaining levels: http://gw2crafts.net/ or you could run easy dungeons like Ascalonian Catacombs for quick levels.

@"Iskatu.8632" said:so i grinded my way to 60 naturally. can i just use a booster to get to 80? i want to wrap up my story and grinding like 20 or so levels to get there is..meh

I'm really hoping you are referring with grinding to actually playing the game and not grinding away at enemys. If not, that would be terrible...

Take a look at this link: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experience and take special note of the bottom half of the page which shows exact experience gain for activities. Literally everything in this game gives experience. If you haven't done so, use cooking (http://gw2crafts.net/cooking.html costs around 4-5g) to get another easy 7 levels (or was it still 10 for cooking, I can never remember).

Other good things to level are:

  • running around zones and just opening up the map and unlocking waypoints
  • completing hero points (might as well now right? use them at 80 to unlock elite specialisations)
  • heart quests and events
  • daily quests which provide tomes and writs of experience
  • story steps give a ton of experience

I'm not sure why you've perceived getting to level 60 as grind, this games leveling is some of the shortest in the entire MMO market.

Glad to hear that you like the story so much that you want to rush to lv80 to complete it :)You'll also get a good gear and trinkets with that boost. However, I've read about players that quit after using that boost on their first character and went to Maguuma, so I'd suggest you to complete your story, but to take some time before jumping into HoT (if you got the boost from that expansion).

As Alatar suggested you, it could be better to use it on a brand new character, but if you plan to do a daily pvp for example, later on, you'll have tomes of knowledge (to gain 1 full level) like it rains, at the point that you won't know how to use them. So go ahead.

I agree with using Tomes of Knowledge to level rather than using the level 80 booster that comes with HoT or PoF. It'd be a waste to use the booster for 20 levels, and you can get 20 Tomes of Knowledge fairly easily from login rewards, WvW and PvP.

(I also agree that when you said you grinded to 60 you hopefully mean by playing the game and not literally grinding - killing the same things over and over until they stop giving XP. That would be an absolute nightmare and in this game a huge waste of time too. I did once talk to someone who was complaining that he was trying to grind XP and kept being 'waylaid' by events - he was quite surprised to learn that actually the events give far more XP than kills and he'd be better off focusing on them but between that and a few other tips he was able to massively speed up his levelling.)

Things you can do to speed up levelling;

  • Use food and utility items. They give 10-15% each. Festival food tends to grant more, look for those.
  • Use the boosters you got from level up rewards.
  • Kill yellow critters when you come across them. Bonus XP for kills is basedon how long something has been alive, and yellow critters don't get killed as often.
  • Buy firecrackers from the TP for an addirional 10% XP. Duration is short, but they are stackable.
  • A sufficiently levelled guild can give you access to 3-10% xp boost. Join one.

DONT WASTE A BOOST that costs that much! 20 levels is cake really and you can get there by making cake....i.e. crafting. Just get some item boosts/xp boosts and even the guild hall xp boost if you can and then go do some crafting. Cooking, Artificing, Jewel Crafting are some pretty easy and cheap options and the site that was posted above is AWESOME for crafting up the fastest and cheapest way! You will hit 80 in no time. I will point out as well that it would be a good thing to play some levels as well so you can get to "know" your toon all the better! Enjoy!!! ;)

If you have tomes of knowledge, feel free to use them. If you don't and you were considering buying a 80 boost.. don't. For a new character the boost is worth the price, but at your level? Not at all. 20 levels won't take you long as long as you do your best to go through areas doing the quest hearts and the events. Do NOT farm/grind mobs. The xp they give may as well be zero as that's nearly what they give compared to quest hearts and events, even with 100% kill xp boosts.
