So i saw a good outfit called the Magitech armor but i dont see it in the gemstore. The only way to get it according to gw2 wiki was 30 black lion stattues but i dont know if there is a chance that the armor will return to the gemstore, nor do i know how many black lion chests it takes to get that many bl stattues. Or if this is worth at all. please i want this armor piece somuch. Thanks for helping i love Gw2 community

Items are rotated in and out of the gem store periodically. The next big update is likely to be around March/April - that usually involves a lot of cosmetic items being (temporarily) removed and new ones introduced, so that's the most likely time for the Magitech armour and other currently available sets to reappear.

But it could happen any time, gem store updates don't follow an exact pattern. Your best option is to make sure you check in-game or in this topic regularly (updates are usually on Tuesdays) and of course keep the money/gems ready to but it when it does appear. (I don't recommend keeping gold ready to convert to gems because the conversion price usually jumps up when new items are in the store.)

Also every BLC at least currently has a guaranteed statue in it, and it looks like that will be the case going forward. So it will take 30 keys to gather if you don't want to wait for the next time the armor rotates into the store, though buying directly will save you many gems. 30 keys bought directly rather than farmed will cost you 2550 gems, and armor sets tend to be 800 gems.

Something else to understand is that the difference of 1750 isnt just thrown away. For each black lion chest you also get a garanteed yellow jackal mini (worth 1g24s on the TP) as well as a lot of other usefull loot, including rare skins. Obviously you where not getting it in the first place, but it is still a nice bonus.

But what would you get if you bought the outfit directly and converted the remaining 1750 gems into gold?

Of course it's impossible to say absolutely which is the better option because in theory you could get all 3 Permanent contracts from those 30 keys and those are worth a few thousand gold each, which makes that by far the best option. But you could also get 30 jackals, 30 black lion statues and 60 account bound consumables (like TP express, make-over kits etc.) which have no gold value and may not even be very useful to you, in which case unless the 30 jackals add up to more gold value than you could get from 1750 gems you're still losing money by choosing that option.

This is the trouble with Black Lion Chests - because it's random you can't make a clear judgement on which is the better option, just assess the risk and then decide if that risk is worth it to you.

I know. Not saying one is good or right. Just pointing out all the details so the OP can make a decission to be patient and wait or to be spending more to get it now. In the end emotions and someones walletsize are also a factor. Patience is harder then buying direct.

The other factor to remember when deciding between 30 BLC's (or possibly fewer if you get more statuettes from a single chest - it is possible) and buying direct from the gemstore is the timing. You could have the Magitech armor today if you're willing to pay for it. The additional items you get from the BLCs may or may not be of any value, but you can be assured of two things:

  1. 30 BLCs will definitely get you 30 statuettes, thus allowing you to get the Magitech armor
  2. This is the only way to get the Magitech armor today

If you have the disposable income and want the Magitech armor now, the value of being able to get it now may be there for you. A word of caution linked to the term "disposable income"... there's a reason that "getting it now" comes at a significant cost. Every company knows that they can entice consumers to pay (or buy) more if they "get it now" or have to "act quickly on a limited time offer". It's all marketing. If you can wait patiently for the gemstore to feature the item, it will be a far lower cost to you. You can make a targeted, intentional purchase rather than paying the premium price via lootbox tokens.

Only you can decide what has enough value to you and whether you can afford to get the armor now, later or ever.
