Level 80-boost not working.

Didn't know whether to put it here or in bug reports, as I may just be missing something. I'm coming back from hiatus, playing with a friend. She has the level 80 boost and we decided to play through content together on max level characters. Every time she attempts to use her boost "Your teleport can not be completed due to level restriction on your destination. " Not sure what else there is to do. If I'm missing something, please let me know.

Is she trying to use the level boost on a brand new Level 1 character before finishing the tutorial?

Anet recently disabled all (hopefully) ways of teleporting out of the tutorial because there's no way to get back in, so if you do it you can't ever progress your personal story on that character.

If she finishes the tutorial she should be able to use the boost. If not that's definitely a bug.

She's out of the tutorial. We were running around leveling in Caledon Forest, before she told me she had a level boost and we both decided we'd probably have more fun already being max level. Thank you for the reply, at least helps my confusion knowing for sure it's a bug.

The strange thing is the boost takes you to Silverwastes and there isn't a level restriction on that map (or wasn't last time I checked). It's a level 80 map but if you know the way there and can survive it you can go there at any level.

yeah weird. i used one just a couple days ago on a mesmer. worked fine and the permanent boost worked fine too.

actually, i crashed while loading silverwastes and on game reload, my character select screen showed the mesmer as naked. on loading though, she was put into her boosted armour.

Yeah I'm really not sure. Should I make a new thread in bug reports, or can a mod move this thread there? I'd love for it to work for her, but there's nothing I can really think to do unless Arenanet responds.

She should submit a bug report in-game and then make a support ticket here on the website, so that she can get direct help.

You could use teamviewer to see what your friend is seeing maybe she is doing something wrong.

how far into the character are they? maybe just try delete it and make a new one?

Could it be some kind of "brand new account" issue? Usage of L80 boosts is not listed here Wiki: Account limitations but that entry could be incomplete.
