I just hope we get Cantha and/or Tengu. The new elite specs will be fun. We will probably get a new mount. There will probably be some new gimmick selling point too, like pirate ships or housing or npc heroes or something special.

  • GreyWolf.8670GreyWolf.8670 Member ✭✭✭

Not likely, unless ANet decides to start putting more rewards in the game rather than selling them in the cash shop. I also don't want another godawful storyline. You can't even skip the inane blathering anymore since they got rid of the dialog cutscenes.

  • Yes, the third expansion's elite spec will greatly clarify Anet's class design direction and its the most part i am eager to see especially with my necro. Of course same with all the other newly added stuffs as well.

I haven’t bought PoF yet! But probably, yes.

  • Yeeeees, certainly! (provided I have enough money heh) I'm still a fresh player so I still have the thrill of so much to do, so a new expansion will be more wind in my sails. Also eager to see where the story's gonna go. (if it's about Kralkatorrik I'm gonna be hyped) Just kind of hope they don't push a new gimmick out personally (like glider and mounts), cause I feel like there's more than enough at the moment in the game, just a nice, sweet xpac.

I will probably buy it yes.

YES, but only if they next expansion will be for another races (i had enough of the human kitten stories). I would like to go north, with the kodan and norn fighting Jormag, or on Charr. If they will put Cantha, i will not buy it.Like i said, i'm tired of this human centric stories.

No, apart if the next extension is about norn of charr (since the beggining of living season and extensions, we never spoke about them.) Sylvaris already been covered with HoT, PoF is mostly humans. The only choices remaining are Asuras (dephts of tyria), charrs and their homelands or norn with deldrimor facades ( extension "Frozen Journey") I don't care about cantha, I want to learn more about the others races! (Note that I'm still okay with an asuran story where we have to reclaim for them the underground, loved rata novus) And I want new WORLD BOSSES, like in core tyria, that worth their places in event timers.

Im un decided. Im still pissed about hots release....they promised legendarys when hot droped and 2-3 years later we still dont have them all....and Most of them are really lame...come on flames of war..a candle stick? You kidding me? Some people like shushadoo, but i for one think a fish tank shield is kitten stupid.

  • Yes, Elite Specs seem to be the only way we as players can get new Skills. New Skills is the best part of the game. I would hope for more Meta Events that are large and cool and on the timer as well, but PoF didnt do that.

Also mounts was a good addition. Would like Housing now. New Weapon Types would be welcome as well.
I am not too excited for new Racess, because I feel that doesnt really add much to the gameplay factor, especially if it wind up being a race like Charr with all the poor art designs to armor models. Besides Revenant cant use Racials, so new Races wont benefit people that like that class.

I tend strongly towards yes, but only time will well. The question is whether a next expac is sensible ATM.
For now, focusing on listening to the players and improving the existing content where needed could prove more beneficial.
This will of course not attract new players, but will perhaps keep veteran players from leaving as they're tired of 6 years asking for the same thing and never being heard?

I dont know about that. People always say this about focus on improving what is here, and we had that for the first few years before HoT. Many people left. People like new things. Old things become old, and boring after long periods of times (years,, like we saw with Vanilla, HoT and Now PoF soon). I rather get new things than just for developers to fix up the stuff they already done.

  • Yes, mostly because of being in a great guild. And right away too because as time goes on population drops make doing many of the achievements difficult.

I play Gw2 for the PvE game mostly so doesn't matter to me if it's 3 expansions of 15.. i'm going to keep buying them for as long as Gw2 remains the primary game in the Guildwars franchise.

  • Probably not, maybe when it is on sale dirt cheap. I feel they are more interested in putting more effort into their CS than the game itself.
Though PoF was a big improvement on the mess that was HoT it's not really got the pull it had back when it originally came out.

Don't think I'd care to. I only started playing GW2 as a filler til other games come along. My girl wouldn't play GW2 for more than a week even after I bought her HoT.

Weird, I am waiting for an expansion where the focus is not on non humans. So much of the content, nearly all really, of late has focused on non human characters.

Taimi and her Asuran pals, Braham, Rytlock, Canach....nearly all of the driving forces of the game currently are non humans.

    NOPE

    1) Childish story with a sarcastic kitten for main character
    2) Awful game balance
    3) Point and click web browser sort of pve ...grindy, repetitive with dumb HP sponges for enemies
    4) lack of communication and interaction
    5) The standards are way below GW1

gave them 2 chances...I am done

Ah yup forgot all that thanks! So simple for me: Will buy EXPAC 3 IF:
1- Not Human or sylvari or gw1
2- Quality is as awesome as living season 1 (no unfinished work like gandara EVER again, plz)
3- Real interaction with devs about the episodes/extensions feedbacks (AFC where half the subjects are answered not only 5 thanks.
4- A solid story WITHOUT ANY PLOT HOLE or incoherence from the past episodes with a serious commander.
5- No stupid farms for nothing like FTT turrets or stupid rare map token (hello shards).
6- A serious addition better than mounts and gliders. (I may reconsider if housing is added, or many decos)

True, but the story has been taking place in primarily human populated areas (aside from Sandswept isles) with the Path of Fire expansion, and I think that's where people are coming up with the human centric comments.

    Asura characters: Zerina | Myndee | Bekka | Akee | Feyyt | Nuumy | Tylee | Rissa | Jaxxi | Sixx | Claara | Conii | Jymm | Synn

  • I'm prepurchasing 100%. I enjoyed both HoT and PoF. I love new spec flavors, new masteries. I also love how maps are themed and unique. HoT was dense and complex and made me feel lost and adventurous. Pof on the other hand felt more like a vast desert with beautiful vistas, and it was much more relaxed pace but equally enjoyable while exploring. Cant wait to see what type of maps we get next.

I have to agree with most people here, I would prefer if it was not human centric. As a main charr, I would love to meet my kind, to visit my homeland, to learn of their politics and ways etc. I wouldn't mind norn based expansion either, cause they need some love too.

Voted "No", because it is how I feel right now about the game and because how the current state of the game interacts with my game time / ability to play.
Reasons (you might share, or not)

    • Power creep & balance is off the rails since PoF in WvW (the competitive mode I like to play) and I don't think that Anet's Devs are on the right path for fixing that.
    • Too much main story and LS4 things are way too dependent on "play it when its hot" to be able to enjoy and finish collections, APs etc (e.g. Serpent's Ire is not happening or succeeding in Vabbi for the Inquest back, which collection you can only do in order). There seems to be a trend towards those things that can be enjoyed only on those peek times (which e.g. you can't attend because of RL when they are new)
    • Formerly fun things like "home instance cats" turned into huge material or money sinks are the tip of the iceberg of "more sinks everywhere"
    • The need for "sinks" is currently encouraged, because everything is connected to "more loot" for players. Unless you play the farm and loot game, you are left behind.
    • Raid content (which I don't play) is so high on Anet's priority list, that it dominates too many other aspects of the game.
    • WvW content, balance and everything else in that game mode is neglected and I don't see a change coming up with Expack 3.
  • If I am playing I will obviously get it, as it makes no sense to me not to get all the content of any game I play.

If I am not playing, then I will come back for an expansion and play it.

So yes. And the fourth, fifth or GW3 if they go that route one day. :)

I'll probably buy it. I held off on HoT but when I bought it they are some of the best maps I've ever played in any game. PoF is not as good map wise as HoT, but it added good additions and is still fun to explore.

I really want them to rebalance the game. Older skills and traits are just not that functional or are obsolete. That needs to change more than anything else on my list.

  • If Im not burnt out and I havent left the game like I did years back for other reasons, a resounding yes. HoT was amazing. PoF...eh, Im honestly burnt on leveling my characters through the content. Right now, Im just playing...a little farming, fractals, wvw.

Im hoping to see an expansion within the next year or two at max. But honestly, not sure I can hang on that long.

Sadly i would by a 3ed one as there still nothing out there i want to play in an mmorpg setting then gw2 BUT for other ppl WoW expansion is about to drop and monster hunter world just came out for the pc as well as other major games coming out soon if Anet dose not put something new into the game more then just a living story or a re do of a festable i cant see this game lasting to a 3ed expansion (if one not being worked out and is close ish to being done.)

  • Weindrasi.3805Weindrasi.3805 Member ✭✭✭

Yeah I'll buy it without question. As a casual, solo player--I did fine with both expansions. Also, I've been playing since GW1.

  • Yikes... I feel like I'm in the terrible minority here by saying yes...

Despite the ending of HoT, something I disagree with even as a new player, I am still enjoying the story and am very curious and interested in seeing how things continue to develop with the Dragon's Watch Guild, what new threats other than the dragons we may have to juggle, and what will become the ultimate solution to the problems the Commander has accidentally caused the world of Tyria.

I bought the two expansions and the living stories within half a month of starting to play, having fallen in love with the characters, the story, the look, and the lore. Even if there are flaws in all of them, it's not enough for me to hate it. Guild Wars 2 has become my go-to game since December, and no other games are making my happy or excited anymore. The Pokemon franchise has burned me 2 and a half generations in a row, I've fallen behind on the console race and am still prior-gen anyway, and a lot of PC games I either just do not have an interest in, or I have burned out on it. GW2 I keep coming back to almost every day, even for a little bit.

I would be more than happy to not only purchase the next expansion, but I am considering making it a pre-order if possible.
I am very excited and am on the edge my seat just waiting for any news what-so-ever on the next Living World chapter. I imagine my hype when the expansion is announced is going to be intense.

Inb4 sometime tells my bright eyed and bushy tailed self that I am wrong for enjoying anything because they themselves are jaded over something. Or I'm too casual.

There is no "Maybe" option. I predominantly spend 90% of my play time in WvW. The next expansion purchase will depend on what it has to offer besides maps/story content and if they complete the Restructuring of WvW by then or if included with it.

Honestly, GW2 has kind of ruined me for other MMOs. The other MMO I spent the most time playing was WoW, and in that game:

1- My gear and spec was changing constantly, not necessarily because I wanted to, but because the game changed so much, even during the same expansion.
2- I hated questing, couldn't care less about anything but the overall story for the expac, NPCs, dialogue. I would grind dungeons or whatever to get to max level as quickly as possible so I could start playing the real game.
3- If I didn't play for a month I would fall so far behind the curve. After 12 months into the expac, they would introduce catch up mechanics that made all the efforts you went through meaningless
4 - You had to pay a sub every month.

    In GW2
1- My gear changes, but once I hit Ascended, I know stat wise it can't go higher. This allows me to spend resources on other alts, or to make alternate sets. While my profession may get tweaks or nerfs here or there, I haven't had to completely re-learn how to play Daredevil or Soulbeast as yet.
2- I love leveling up through heart and map completion. I still have unused LV80 boosts because with every new profession I roll, I want to experience the open world with them. I love map meta, world bosses, dynamic events, and ever after doing them several times over, I still find them fun. Personal story is a bit different, but still not something I dread.
3- If I quit for a month, I'd fall behind on my login rewards and daily completionist reward, but that's it. All the content in the game remains relevant, whether I want to go and kill the Karkka queen, head to Dry Top, complete Dragon Stand or farm Istan.
4- No sub required, I pay for only what I want off the Gem store. These days I just accumulate sufficient enough gold to buy the gems I need for the items I want off the Gem store, but if something big comes along, I don't mind shelling out $20 given I used to pay $15 a month.

GW2 has set the standard for me now, and I could never go back to WoW, even if they addressed all the issues that caused me to leave in the first place, because now I have different expectations for how an MMO should play.

  • No. I didn't get the first two either since I don't like what they are doing at all.

Hell no. I don't need PoF for absolutly nothing but story and i could watch Wooden potatoes for that.
As a WvW player and a mesmer i haven't gotten a single thing from PoF, i'm still stuck on chrono, wvw wasn't updated, hell even sPvP didn't get anything. Both are bleeding population for years now and now we only have like 4 tier 1 guilds that are able to compete on kinda equal footing. There are no commanders anymore, everyone is hostile to you if you are above average or want to raise the community. It's just bad all around, except for combat system. He i am hoping for GW3.
