About Living World Season 3

I read from a friend of mine that LWS3 is free right now before Path of Fire is out.But I still have it locked for me, do I need to have Path of Fire pre ordered for that?

LW Season 3 is divided in 6 episodes. You could unlock each episode for free by logging in after that episode was released, but before the next episode is released. So until friday you can still unlock the sixth episode. Any episode you have not unlocked can be bought in the gemstore (200 gems per episode). In order to be able to actually play the LW Season 3, you also need to have bought the HoT expansion (the same goes for LW Season 4 and PoF). If you have unlocked an episode but do not own HoT yet, it will become available after you buy HoT.

gosh, just trying to get back into the game after 3 years and I have to buy HoT, AND the Season 3 LW pack.....they should really be bundled together for the 30$ price tag. =\ Makes me not motivated to get back into it.

Those are DLC episodes which active players get for free. Other games charge everyone for the DLC’s on top of expansions.

Think of it as a reward to even barely active players. Logon once while an episode is 'new' (2-3 month period) and it's free.

For example, TESO charges extra for each DLC, either directly (via their gem-shop equivalent) or via subscription. If you're paying monthly, you get the new DLC. If you drop and come back, you don't get the old ones.

but it's lore. I'm very much a story driven person. Meh, most people who play this game probably wouldn't agree because they're used to it, but having to pay 50$ for PoF and HoT as well as well as paying half of s2 and all of s3 and perhaps some of s4 is kinda expensive for a returning player for the base game content.

If you need only pay for half of Living World Season 2, you must have been aware of the Living World Season mechanics, i.e., logging in ever-so-briefly to unlock the Episode at no cost, whatsoever. Why would you need to pay for Living World Season 4 Episodes? Unless, of course, you were planning on foregoing the no-cost option, once again?

It is expensive to buy it all at once, but you don't have to do it that way. If you want to play the story in order you could just buy each part as you reach it - Season 2 now, HoT once you've finished that, then Season 3 when you've finished HoT, then PoF once you've finished Season 3. Although there is a discount for buying both expansions together, so it might be better to get them that way. But then if it takes you a while to get through the story there might be other deals that come up before you need the expansions which make it even cheaper.

You don't actually need to pay real money for the Living Story episodes if you don't want to, because you can buy gems with gold. Depending on how you play it might take a while to save up (or involve selling a lot of spare crafting materials and things), but it's an option.

Dont forget that every 5k ap you get 400 gems you can buy the episodes with that aswell.

Just because someone logged in during a particular time does not mean they are aware of how unlocking the LS episodes works. Just because some episodes are unlocked for them and others are not does not mean they necessarily know why.

Personally, I think that the expansions should also include the related LS season.
