WvW Quality of Life Requests

Hey folks!

As you know, the World Restructuring plan we've been discussing is a fairly long term project. While we work on that, we might have a bit of bandwidth here and there to do some minor QoL stuff.

We'd love your input on what you'd like to see. If we see an idea here we like, we'll get it on the backlog. No guarantee we get to it in a timely manner (or at all, for that matter), but I'd like us to have a nice list of community requests to pull from, should we find the time.

MINOR NAMEPLATE QoL REQUEST...

Change the nameplate colors of NPCs and pets and minions and phantasms and clones to... NOT RED... so we can identify players among the clusters of zergs and skill effects. Ideally a different color for each set of AI would be super!

MINOR MESMER PHANTASMS AND CLONES QoL REQUEST...

Me from a big thread... "I would also like to suggest that phantasms and clones look completely different than the player character, and more like transparent forms that are visually identifiable. Why? because exact character copies are too advantageous in wvw and spvp for a medium base HP class (15k), that can burst for 22k (24k was my most recent incoming damage on a full trailblazer necro) in 3 seconds on a max toughness target, that also has great mobility AND stealth options... Players shouldn't have to waste 3-5 seconds determining who the actual target is, they should be focused on split second skill decision making."

  1. Investigate the relationship between normal siege vs. superior siege. Worth or just clutter?

  2. Look at mastery points again. Originally they were suppose to create roles as I recall. Reality is they're just something to eventually get as linear progression. This hurts any new player that may get into this game mode since they literally will be at a disadvantage without any skill involved (like gliding off a cliff but forgetting you don't have gliding in WvW mastery)

  3. Finish, change, or drop the obsidian weapons.

  4. Re-evaluate the time to take a paper objective vs. a "T3" one. Paper is probably too "fast" and T3 almost is too slow or ultimately deters much of any activity outside of lapses in coverage.

  5. Consider a "no man's land" in between territories. It seems silly to have statistical buffs for defense that stretch out well beyond the actual objective.

  6. More quaggans.

Please reincorporate crafting stations back into WvW. That was a QoL feature much missed. With all the mats generated from the massive bag farms I get the opportunity to participate in on Maguuma, I constantly find my mats at x250 limits sitting in my inventory and crafts bank. This limits my additional bag farm potential. But having crafting stations in WvW would let me compact my mats by promoting them to higher tiers and thus, allowing me to reclaim much needed bank and inventory spaces (I have maxed inventory and both salvage-o-matics, and still lack space during WvW fights) without having to exit WvW to Lion's Arch or MistLock to use crafting stations.

The arguments made about WvW queues caused by crafting stations are fallacies. Desert BL rarely has any queues on Mag (and probably most other servers) outside of reset night. I can remain in WvW and continue to craft and still engage in team chat, without disturbing the flow of other players.

BUILD TEMPLATES PLEASE! I find myself swapping between DPS and Healer on my Ele depending on group needs, and being able to do that with the click on a button would be AMAZING.

Also, can we get something to spend WVW ability points on after we maxed everything out? Even if it's something as simple as getting more Badges of Honor, Testimonies of Heroics, faster reward track gain, faster WVW EXP, etc.

Saved build tabs or buttons would be nice; something that would save equipment and traits such that, with a click on the Hero panel would at least attempt to save current equipment to inventory, set traits, then attempt to load a set of saved equipment so we can switch between builds faster.

Automatically change chat to party when joining a group, squad when joining a squad, etc.

Create an option for a mini inventory window that would only display available consumables when enabled by the player.

Change the red circles for AoE to show a bit more visual intensity for areas where many are overlapping.

What about giving us back the crafting stations? I assume the amount of people "switching" from PvE was quite overestimated in retrospect

Move the Desert BL Bank access down to the ground floor for Red home base

Half the re-spawn time of WvW daily Veterans and half their reward values, too. It is much more important not to have "squads" of people waiting for them when they pop up as dailies

Reduce the daily ranker to one rank up please

Reduce the guild member requirement for dolly escorts, camp caps and sentry caps from the guild missions list to one person please.

Increase the crafting material rewards from Mist-Wrapped Bundles and Packets and add a few more Mystic Coins across all reward chests from Wood to Diamond

fix that wall section at Necropolis already, where you can place a catapult right of the main gate, on the backside of the wall

and since I am bad at forgetting to switch to the WvW guild boost, can we have a "drunken quaggan" NPC at spawn, where I can switch to the WvW buff :p

Can we just do away with armor repair in wvw? There is already the penalty of being ported back to a wp without the added running over to the repair heart and then running across the map to get back on tag. Its an annoyance but people will do it rather than buy a repair canister.
I'm ok with the short downed penalty with a cool down. that is fair.

Also losing seal stacks on a map jump is a pain. I get losing them on death. That is reasonable, even just a "downed" is a bit much to lose stacks on but I'll suck it up if we can at least swap wvw maps and not lose stacks when answering an emergency waypoint call.

I'm not sure what the new dynamics of wvw will be like, but at this time being fluid and able to flip maps fast to defend objectives is part of the excitement of wvw. Using seals is a choice (true), but do those that offer a stacking attribute have to have so many penalties? They don't stack with other seals (fair), You lose the stacks on a down, death, and map switch. If they are so game breaking that they need so many penalties lets just remove them altogether or trim back a tad on the penality and take some of the tedium out of using them? Just my 2 cents.

Make Minipets invisible for enemies. I hate the fact that using them in wvw gives you at an disadvantage as enemies might see you while stealthed. And turning them off every time you enter wvw is something quite annoing. Maybee make them visible for oneself only in wvw to save performace?

Some kind of delay on consumables (like the one you put on reaper shroud so people don't click out of it too fast) cos whenever I get lag it ends up double clicking cos I have no idea if the first click worked and I ended up wasting many expensive food/utils this way. Fixing lag would fix that problem though :P

I'd like added stackable loot boxes:

Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4, Tier 5, and Tier 6 loot boxes that coincide with their respective loot tables. These boxes would contain both crafting materials for that Tier, as well as, weapons/gear that would break down into crafting materials of that tier. We seem to be overrun with T5 materials at the moment with very little access to stuff from other Tiers. I think this would be a nice addition. These loot boxes would take the place of whatever loot boxes currently sit in any of the reward tracks. They could also replace champion bags dropped from tower/keep lords.

Then add various loot tier bags for killing other players. So instead of just Heavy loot bags, add Light and Medium loot bags as well as possible drops (containing their respective Tier materials as well.

Lastly, a means to auto-sell sigils of different Tiers. Probably a simple checkbox in your item window allowing the auto-sale of whatever Tier of sigils/runes you have no desire to see litter your inventory. Probably a simple checkbox in your item window would do the trick.

Maybe we should start with some serious request and then devolve the thread into jokes after the devs have some stuff to work on....

  1. Build templates (I know this has a very low chance to get implemented, but it's been highly requested for years now so had to list it first.)
  2. Skirmish vendor tabs listed in order. 1. Triumphant hero(t2 exotic), 2. Triumphant hero(t2 ascended), 3. Mistforged Triumphant hero(t3 ascended), 4. Mistforged Hero weapons(exotics), 5. Mistforged Hero weapons(ascended).
  3. Tactivators given minimum requirements to activate, either having HoT expansion for which they are from(this option is a bit restrictive like guild only), or wvw rank of say 50 (and stating you need rank 50 every time they try to pull it), this is to at least take out free account or low level players who don't know what they are, out of the accidental pulls.
  4. Listing the abbreviated guild name under their guild icon on banners for claimed sites, you can already see who owns it with the tooltip on the object, but it's a nice little touch for some more pride in a guild claim.
  5. On the Objective upgrades screen, listing the Guild claiming tab first, then Auto upgrades. The auto upgrades screen isn't really important other than see how many dolyaks are needed, the guild claiming tab gets the most use when grabbing banners or looking at timers. (Yes I know the tab stays whenever you open the objective screen but it's still a minor annoyance to me, which I'm trying to consolidate the dolyak upgrades into the tooltips which is next).
  6. On the tooltip for structures, which has the current status of upgrade, then the amount of points for a capture, protection from capture. I think listing the amount of dolyaks left for the upgrade of the current tier level would be nice to have here.
  7. Developing special events for weekends or even week long every other week or once a month, such as one you could have 50% Magic find buff, the next 25% Wxp boost, the next 10% Wvw reward track boost. This is to help tempt new or pve players into wvw to try it out. The buff will need to be on in all game modes so that all players can see when the event is on.
  8. Upgrading npc guards and lords into Triumphant and Mistforged triumphant gear when the structure upgrades into tier 2 and 3. Skip this if it's going to add lag to the surrounding area.
  9. Custom theme skins for claimed sites, such as smc or garrison becoming a spooky halloween castle if [sPOK] decides to buy it off the cash shop and use it as their theme.
  10. Custom theme skins for siege weapons. Snowball throwing catas? Bloody metal spikes raining down from ACs? Asuran throwing trebuchets? (ok I know I said keep it serious but how can I not relist and support this!) The last 2 request are more art department stuff, but it's something else to sell in the gem store if anything.
  11. Obsidian Sanctum turned into megaserver zone of wvw servers. Or turned into a giant lobby much like what was done for spvp, but with 3 sides not everyone friendly, with multiple giant arenas for gvg's, and spawn areas for banking trading crafting as mentioned in this thread etc.

Had a thread on this in the old forums but can't access them anymore shrug.

A keybind that goes straight to specialisation menu? I made a post about this a long time ago but I don't know what the repercussions would be, also no one answered that thread hehe.

No that still takes too much time. I meant a button that will immediately load up your other pre-saved build when out of combat. Like how you can click the weapon swop button to swop weapon. Ofcourse you would still need to go create that build in your build window beforehand and save it first. Multiple buttons with multiple build slots would be awesome but I'm getting a little greedy now.
