Call me crazy but...

Didn’t spirit weapons used to be, like, pets? I’ve never had a Guardian throughout my years of GW2 but I finally decided to splurge and get another char slot and... yeah.

I remember seeing Guardians running around with them in tow. Or so I think?

It's a bit fuzzy as I was away from the game for a long time, but I used to main guardian and if memory serves, I believe they were just like pets/ the necro minions.

I don't remember them ever being like pets or minions and always there, but until the recent patch you did summon them and they would stay around for a set length of time, a minute or so and follow you around attacking what you attacked.

This. They were close to useless before that patch due to being a bad mechanic, now they're close to useless because the devs (surprise!) got the numbers wrong.

They have always been considerably useless. Nobody uses spirit weapons because every other skill has just always been better.

Aww I miss SW Pet Sword and Hammer in the open beta. It helps to steal aggro away from me when I was still a newbie in open world.The best part of all, they were indestructible throughout the period. xDBow still sucks all the way through. xD.

Not true. Most spirit weapons have their place the game now. Sword offers very good damage in PvE. Bow can pump up to about 10-12k healing and Shield is pretty good too thanks to 6s Weakness. Hammer is too slow and it's impossible to stun anyone with it even mobs in PvE. ANet should also make tweaks to the trait improving spirit weapons because right now only sword benefits from burning.

They got reworked, they work like some kinda casted weaponskill now with charges. I have to try them out honestly on my permablock DH, maybe the shield can serve a purpose.
