I'm pretty sure i didn't choose warrior on the character selection ....Or maybe, i just don't understand the purpose of soulbeast ?Please, can someone explain to me ? I'm very disappointed.

you don't understand the purpose, go play more than a few hours and come back

by this logic, every class that has a melee weapon, shares some boons, and doesn't have a pet is a Warrior? So...does GW2 even have professions besides Warrior?

Well can't blame the guy. Rangers were always the poor man's warrior but with a pet.

And now the feeling is obviously gonna go strong as soulbeast is sort of ranger-warrior hybrid, whereas warrior himself went into warrior mesmer subclass. That being said however, i do like what soulbeast does. It's party play is not garbage by any means, yet wholly different then the druid. I would very much like stances to be shared with allies for longer though. Also warriors (save maybe spellbreaker) are dreadfully boring, while rangers are much more varied and fun, even if technically speaking warriors can do more in non-support scenarios (now they can rip boons too, ranger still can't).

I honestly don't understand the logic of what they have done with the Ranger elite specs. First, they took a "hunter"-ish class and made them a healer with the Druid spec, and now this... Would have much preferred that the elite spec stayed more in-line with the theme of the class. Like Reaper for Necro, that made sense...

The theme wasn't exactly "Hunter" but a profession with a huge affinity with nature.

Druid is about cosmic stuff (and plants)Soulbeast is about an even stronger bond with your pet

It's all in the nature theme.

I really enjoy being medium armor profession and using melee. If you want to camp in Spirit Bond you totally can (I am one of those people that does not want pet) but it offers the option to weave in and out; you can use the f1 and f2 abilities twice if you play your cards right and watch carefully. With a 10 second CD its not as long as you would think giving you enough time to get off a rotation and then re-bonding.

It really appeals to my playstyle and I personally am having a blast in WvW at least - granted I know you said PvP but with it being such a small, quick, and condi paced game mode I think Druid will still have its place there until the meta settles.

I agree. Optimal or not, it's satisfying to rattle off a combo in beastmode while your pet's attacks remain available (i.e. no cooldown), e.g. a combo in beastmode with Smokescale, then pop out and have Smokescale drop Smoke Assault and Smoke Cloud, swap pets, use pet special/auto, into beastmode and go again.

There is a nice bit of flexibility afforded to Ranger with this specialisation. It's not drastically different, but different enough to feel engaging.

I know when they were talking about the new elites on Guild Chat, they seemed to have had a general theme of "Class, but through the lens of Other Class". I'm guessing this is ranger through the lens of a warrior, especially since we get stances to go with the dagger. It took me a little while to get used and appreciate the dagger skills, but I do kind of like dagger 3 having 2 charges on it. I used to use sword on my ranger as his melee weapon, but the movement skills on high cliffs tended to kill me, so I stopped. This is pretty close to a good compromise, if not a bit weak in power.

Much like with druid, though, I'm going to mostly stick with my core skills. I think I'll keep Soulbeast as my elite, because the beast skills are fun and merging with them allows me to call my pet out of combat if I'm trying to run away. Maybe I'll figure out a good fit for it later, but for now, it's an emergency skill in my back pocket (like splitting instead of dying while merged).

Be aware this is my opinion, but I have never looked at the class system in guild wars 2, as set in stone. I do use a bow with my ranger, I also use a greatsword. I believe the class system in gw2 is not as defined as it is in most mmo and to me this is a great thing. We do not seem to have traditional roles of warrior, cleric and ranger. It is more like a starting base that can be changed depending upon your style of play. I could be wrong but I enjoy being able to make a character with more options for play.

Swapping pets works too :)

I only use BM to get extra CC, that's all :'(

Yes, but merging ensures the new pet doesn't aggro something, either. Plus, with Eternal Bond, I have a few extra seconds of survival if the worst happens.

Core Engineer? :P Unless you count Bomb Kit, Tool Kit, or Flamethrower.
