Conquest is the problem. Stronghold is just plain Silly, at best is watered down WvW.

A balanced playing field would do wonders. Each side is the mirror of the other. No high grounds, no low spots. Room for cover from AoE and ranged. Room to escape a melee or chaser.

Teams could play as offensively or defensively as they wished according to a strategy based off of an equal sided map structure.

the "event" mechanics should be totally randomized. Bell, Beasts, Trebs . One Capture point for each team on the direct opposite of the map.

The meta in builds is directly derived from the capture point system. Let the build diversity flourish. balancing builds would be easier with a balanced map structure.

Before anyone points it out. Eternal Coliseum is close. But the cap points should be right outside the spawn points. so a Blitz style team would have to deal with a counter blitz off the spawn point. Also a barrier of neutral zone of at least 1500 outside of the spawn point for Range or Aoe. therefore Capping the other team's point has to be done in melee of some sort. Might help with spammers issue or breed only melees, just a thought.
