PvP should use Specialization Icons

It's pointless to remove it because of that reason.Far more beneficial to everyone knowing what spec someone is running at the very least.

I agree since people now understand that going core in some specs is actually good and understandable. More and more specs are getting good core builds which is really nice.

Core guard, core ranger, core ele, core warr, core thief, core mes all have builds that work for core, but necro, engi, and rev are lacking in that department.

It's like running staff ele, pretty much. Even while running staff ele in PvP, I don't get that much flak nowadays.

I'm ok with don't know what's the enemy builds. That add a "I don't know what you're playing and I have to be ready for everything" to the game. At last for the first fight, then you'll know exactly what the enemy is using. Also will make players not focus specific players only because they know exactly what's his specializzationbefore the start of the match. For example, I will not focus a DH but I will for shure focus a FB because is really easy to kill if focused. There's different builds for every specializzation, but that knowledge will grant different kind of advantages to the enemy team more than to your own.

For different classes every specializzation use it's new weapon as main weapon, then it's not hard to see the allies builds. But yes, for different situation a better knowledge should grant better teamwork.Maybe change the icon for your team only, that would grant to the team a better knowledge of allies builds and roles.

My belief is that we should be able to see everyone's Elite spec. More so since some specs hard counters others. It'll leave some of the guess work out. Allowing you to spec accordingly.

At current moment I see no benefits from hiding who is using what Elite spec. I do see the harm in not showing who is what. More so since we are not giving the option to build mid match. Like most other dedicated PvP titles I plays.

Hiding players Elite spec as seen to date. Do not stop players from griefing other players. So that point is nonsense to even think about.

One could argue that such a fix would not solve the issue, only flip the table.

Hard counters need to be taken out by the root.

In a game where one can not build during the PvP match. I'd have to agree with you.

I think elites should be shown and locking builds as soon as you enter should be done to stop people from just switching to a hard counter to eliminate a player. You should have to play how you entered not buildwars trying to get a cheap win or chase a certain player around because you found out x spec can never lose to x spec eliminating all the skill required when you know the outcome.

There should be no such thing as a hard counter if the games going to be conquest and each player will end up in 1v1 then no build should eliminate another entirely.

I agree with this.

That's all fair and nice. But seeing the matchmaking does not mirror comps, this is a horrible idea.Say one team queues in 2-3 thieves + necro guard, there's no way it's ever gonna beat Tempest / Druid. Resulting in matchmaking being even more of a diceroll than it already is.

What??? Why does people want to know their enemies builds before the match? It sounds like cheating altho they could see your build too.

But no!

It would give greater advantage to senior players who would know the most used builds for every class/elites. I would love to have that starting time being only spectate mode, meaning everyone could see map but not enemy or own team builds.

And no, if teammates could see your build, that would mean that next match you have high possibility to be in same match, and you would know each others builds.

What makes PvP a little bit better is randomness of players and their builds. If you could see enemy or own team players builds, people would get harrassed, and those actual skilled players would remember your builds and counter you match over match.

It's like a chess game where opening move would be always the same. It has many outcomes, but still it would feel boring after a while.

I suppose they could make it so you cant see the enemies class even either then, but, let you see more info on team mates. Could also give enemy specialisation at the end and let it stay there to look at even after they've left. This info would be good for newbies.

@EthanLightheart.9168 said:I think not no. It's a discrimination for people only owning the core version of the game. Imagine all the salt fountains like: Omg a core necro, or core guardian - go home....

Except core guardian is competitive (valk radiance), along with core thief (s/d acro), core warrior, and core ele (scepter FA). Core Engi, core ranger, and core Mesmer have gank builds that are useful against certain comps.

The only classes that are truly "bad" as core are revenant and necromancer. (of course anyone who can play core rev can also play Herald) Honestly right now there are elite specs for some classes that perform worse than some core builds.

So if we see the elite spec icon, we are never going to start early with everyone click yes for ready...

Actually i prefer just the basic icon, we need to guess what elite and what kind of build enemy team is using, sometimes a good guess does make a match up much easier, but a wrong guess will cost ya.

Anet's fault for making a cookie-cutter, no-thought, hard-counter metagame, my dude.
