Optimator.3589
Sometimes the game refuses to run for me in any fashion. It'll be working fine, then the next time I go to start it, nothing happens after clicking the play button. If I reboot my computer, it'll then work properly. I've tried launching the game with the -windowed command line option, and it makes no difference. Is there a chance that this is a G-sync related issue?Dxdiag is as follows:System InformationTime of this report: 5/5/2018, 16:23:09Machine name: OWNER-PCOperating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_ldr_escrow.180330-1600)Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: ASUSSystem Model: All SeriesBIOS: BIOS Date: 08/10/15 14:02:46 Ver: 05.06.05Processor: Intel® Core i7-5930K CPU @ 3.50GHz (12 CPUs), ~3.5GHzMemory: 32768MB RAMAvailable OS Memory: 32668MB RAMPage File: 4828MB used, 60506MB availableWindows Dir: C:\WindowsDirectX Version: DirectX 11DX Setup Parameters: Not foundUser DPI Setting: Using System DPISystem DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)DWM DPI Scaling: DisabledDxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 64bit UnicodeDxDiag Notes Display Tab 1: No problems found. It'll be working fine, then the next time I go to start it, nothing happens after clicking the play button. If I reboot my computer, it'll then work properly. I've tried launching the game with the -windowed command line option, and it makes no difference.First of all, wow that's one heck of a post.Second, it might be due to Internet lag. This happened to me several times where I clicked play and nothing happened. The play button turned gray and it changes color when you switch to a different character. Lag is what causes this issue for the most part.

zemiacsik.4590
Ok, so that00015993: Perf: Reported video memory exceeds the maximum supported bytes: 4294967295did not looked well for me, so I had tried launching GW1 and I got some graphical issue too.Although I do not remember updating my graphic driver yesterday, it seemed to be a driver issue so I checked it for updates, no miracle there was some and after update it works fine again. So yeah, gentlemen from NVIDIA did some tricks.Sorry for double post, but I thought it is more like an update than an edit.
AnClar.1304
This has also started happening to me along with the flash to desktop on map load/zone change issue. This just started after the Windows 10 April update. Whatever MS did to its gaming stuff, including "Focus Assist", broke something in the GW2 client. I have a support ticket in on the flash to desktop problem, I''m going to add this to the ticket. Hopefully I'll hear something back from support in the near future. I've got an Nvidia GTX 970FTW card, and I have the latest graphics drivers, from April 25. v397.

I'll play around with it, and see, but I had absolutely no problems until the April Windows 10 update.
Luca.2718
I now also have this issue. Since starting to play GW2 remotely on my laptop. After returning "home", if I then run GW2 on my usual Desktop machine it logs in fine but then won't run (from PLAY button) without a Windows restart. When I press PLAY it instantly drops backs to Desktop without so much as a ' By your leave'. Can repeat several times with same result (until I get bored, at least 3x). It's very annoying!! I'm unclear what the root cause is, but the symptom is that various tools report they can't initialize DirectX (9, and 11), and when they report the error, that the stack returns "out of memory".The one relatively consistent thing that I associate with this is that I have the 2D, windowed "gw2navi" overlay running, and if I click on it I get three "java has failed" generic Windows alerts. gw2navi then crashes out, and things start working again.I can also say that the current Riva Statistics Server seems to be able to trigger this, though I don't believe it to be the only cause. It may also be associated with running vcxsrv rootless on the machine, though I'm unclear if that is a cause, a victim, or a distraction at this time.I suspect something odd around the current NVIDIA drivers, Windows 10 updates, and RSS / AfterBurner "collection" of things, leading to a failure to initialize the DirectX stack. We see it as "instant exit to desktop" in GW2 because it doesn't check the error code from the call correctly (tsk, tsk, ANet), and just segfaults. gw2 TaCO, on the other hand, will report the error and (relatively) cleanly terminate. Never had it happen with my old AMD card that I ditched around 6 weeks ago. So Nvidia does seem to be a common thread. Correlation, or causation, I don't know. We can rule out Windows 10 as the specific culprit, since I'm on Windows 7 Pro 64. Doesn't mean that there isn't something MS did with a recent multi-OS update, ofc. I guess at this point, we're just going to have to live with it until SOMETHING gets updated and fixes it.
Cable.2850
Get exactly the same click launcher click play nothing happens issue, I also get the flash to desktop on map loads.I think it could be a Win10/Nvidia thing, as I was just trying to add the geforce driver ver, and found a) GeForce Experience wouldn't respond to clicks, b) the GeForce control panel crashed on opening. I killed a bunch of the nVidia tasks (a lot respawned, but not all), and the game launched fine, whereas minutes before it was failing with Play and Nothing bug whichEvent Log says is:Faulting application name: Gw2-64.exe, version: 1.0.0.1, time stamp: 0x5af0bd9eFaulting module name: Gw2-64.exe, version: 1.0.0.1, time stamp: 0x5af0bd9eException code: 0xc0000005Fault offset: 0x0000000000348e9cFaulting process ID: 0x36f4Faulting application start time: 0x01d3e6ea0669d85bFaulting application path: E:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exeFaulting module path: E:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exeReport ID: 4ce40c27-9e12-4059-9ee3-c36a46cd2f39Faulting package full name:Faulting package-relative application ID: Versions:Windows 10.0.17134.1, Nvidia drivers 24.21.13.9731
Optimator.3589
After having this happen earlier, I spent a little time in the task manager, and I think I've got it narrowed down to the nvcontainer.exe *32 process. After stopping a couple instances of that process, I was able to get the game to launch again. Anet, if you happen to read this thread, think maybe you could take a look at this? Loki.2359
I'm having the same issue trying to run the game. I have an NVidia GeForce GTX 750TI OC with the latest drivers installed. All of the windows 10 updates I had in the past would for reasons unknown corrupt my geforce drivers, forcing me to reinstall them from the official website (GeForce Experience would sometimes corrupt the downloads of new drivers) after every windows update. It caused me a lot of issues with other games and software. ATM (fingers crossed) the last update hasn't damaged the drivers, but GW2 just doesn't run. It is part of the NVIDIA service, as part of the "NVIDIA Experience", I believe. So, if you are having trouble related to it, time to try disabling the NVIDIA service and/or some of the overlay features in the NVIDIA Experience application. (I, also, will be trying this out. Since it seems possible it is at the root of my problems with similar symptoms...)

However, if ANet is able to definitively find a link between their software getting fouled up and Nvidia's processes, I think it more likely that Nvidia would listen to them than to some random schmoe like me. Which is why I'm asking for their attention here.

I have had no trouble after the upgrade, so while I can't be certain the problem is resolved, I'd strongly encourage you to upgrade to yesterdays "game ready driver" release. Ashantara.8731
@OP: There is some information that you posted there (like your computer name) that you shouln't post publicly. Just saying.So...Have you put the gw2.exe (or the 64-bit equivalent) on your antivirus' behavior shield's list of exceptions?Have you tried removing gw2.exe from your firewall completely, then reboot your PC and relaunch the game to have it re-added?When was the last time you did decent maintenance on your PC (cleaning obsolete files, like Windows installation files, etc.)? Tips can be found in this unrelated guide.
