First of all CONGRATULATIONS to the winners. Finals were amazing. I think the best match ever played in guild wars frenchise history.

Secondly congratulations to the orgenaziers. WoodenPotato did great job with second caster.

Thirdly congratulations to Anet for making good balance and providing good patches.

Its high time Anet does next World Championship for 1 000 00 $.

This tourney showed the game's balance isn't in such a bad state, aside from the fact chrono had to be banned.

More like this please.

Umm...

Look at the team comps towards the end.

  • Both running FB + Scourge
  • Both running thief (not inherently surprising)
  • Both running mesmers for portal plays
  • Only differences were in whether one side ran holo, one side ran warrior.

Classes not really represented:

  • Ele
  • Rev
  • Ranger

Plus... chrono was banned from the tourney because everybody considers it OP.

As one of the people that helped run this tourney and provided rewards for it, please don't thank ANet for having anything to do with this tournament. We reached out to them to ask if they wanted to support it or even to advertise it on their twitter etc and got radio silence in return.

This. It would have been nice to have had our original announcement a month ago stickied and a Tweet or something from Anet but none of us ever heard back.

It's a slap in the face for those of us trying to help make THEIR game experience better.

Give it time, if it gain traction they're bound to pay attention to it eventually. They'd be dumb not to specially since there's precedent for community ran tournaments becoming large successes (GCDTV in WoW to name just that).

Congrats to all to organisers though, was great fun to watch, keep it up!

You'd have to tweet them art with tournament announcement hidden somewhere to get a retweet. /s

But for real, that's the second time in a span of a month a very sizeable community event gets unnoticed or ignored by ArenaNet.

You'd think that after all the crap they got on reddit for the same reason they won't repeat the exact same mistake, especially since this time there was no controversial title.

i don't think removing only chrono is a fantastic way to balance things... maybe for the na team yes, but for the viership i will ban also mender amulet, and scourge....

To those of you wandering, frenchsise is a French franchise :p :p :p :pNow seriously, they should have banned Scourge too,not so much because it can't be dealt with, but because the way this specialisation plays atm is catastrophic to so many other builds and plays,it's bad for the game overall.

@BeLZedaR.4790 said:Should’ve banned scourge aswell.Regardless, it was nice to watch some good games and sad arenanet is completely silent instead of being supportive which promotes their game for 0 cost.

I'm not sure anet should participate in a tournament where some of grand finale players are officially banned from pvp for wintrading (or other kind of cheating activities).

lol this game isn't actually competitive enough to have tournaments. The ones by anet are a joke (Ats) and the community ran ones no one actually cares about.

  • This is circlequest. The team with the most speed on their side (not actual skill) wins.
  • Limited fight zones to 3 random circles on the floor.
  • 1v1 skill doesn't really mean much in circlequest so it's hard to tell if a player is good or not.
  • Balance is a joke since the game is about pve and flashy buy able skin items.
  • Pvp is handled with no care hince hackers, botters, afk pve reward hunters, and win traders.

Sadly it takes a while for a single chained up monkey slamming keyboard keys to randomly get the right balance set. It's not like one of the 40 full time 24/7 people working on flashy skins can work on a real balance fix or real game mode. For now if you want pvp unranked is the place and you may need to wait for Guild Wars 3 for some real pvp like Guild Wars 1.

The last game was awesome, but conquest and balance kind of demands the comps they are playing (only difference was holo on one team versus warrior on the other). If you don't have FB/Scourge and a good thief for decaps and mobility and a good mesmer for portals, it's incredibly hard to win. Would be fun to see a team with a dragon hunter and shiro rev and reaper be able to win... now THAT would be exciting.

But, alas, it's an MMO so chances are one basic comp will almost always be optimal in 5v5 conquest mode. At least in a tourney both sides are running the same team comp so it does come down to skill. In random qs, on the other hand.... yikes.

I thought thanking Anet was sarcastic anyway.

Can't wintrade in a tournament like this. You're just being bitter for no reason, take a step back :)

Also @ the people who say "arenanet didnt care" they did infact care and posted on twitter at least once. If you expect frontpage announcements for things like this your perspective is out of whack

No, they actively wintraded or shared accounts for profit in our game which they were punished for by the devs. If public figures like WP actively support and promote such players, maybe Anet should check if tourney organisators are still compliant with anet partner program.

It was terrible. Granted I only watched the last match, but pvp in this game is so horrible to watch. You can hardly see anything going on in all the gfx spam and what not.

Also why are players allowed to take part that are actively being punished by Anet? Bad practice.Shows how much it matters to pure PvP players if their main account is restricted but they can just make new accounts at once. PvP players only have to loose something if you ban the person and not the account.

I don't think I will be playing guild wars 3.
