What happened to the old forums?

So, long story short: I used to be more active on the forums, then I wasn't able to play for a long time. Now I'm back and the forums are completely changed & I seem to have lost all my previous posts. What happened? Was it a complete crash or reset or what?

The old forums were created by someone who no longer updated it. Because of this many functions, like search didn't work. The new forums are updated from the antiquated one. Nothing as dire as a crash or reset . . . just out with the old and in with the new. :)

Also, ANet removed all bans and suspensions from the old forum to give those posters a second chance on the new ones.

Apparently it was only a matter of time before the old forums did crash and Anet wouldn't be able to bring it back. So they decided to switch to a new one before that happened.

There was no way to carry all the posts and things over so we all started from scratch on the new one.

Ok, I was wondering if that was the case. It kind of sucks, because there were some cool posts on the old forums that I'd like to reread. Thank you for your quick response.
