It's not that rare to have one team with double necro+double mesmer nowadaysBut to have that on both teams...Says a lot about current balance huh

Profession limits need to be implemented. When someone tries to stack the same profession like double necromancer or double mesmer, they will be kicked from the match unless they change to a profession the team doesn't have.

I have been reading through the PvP forum posts and keep seeing "The Community voted to keep class swapping ". As a Dev I would say " Sorry community. Class swapping is direct match manipulation. We already have a matchmaker in place."BUT. The matchmaker is doing a terrible job.

They can't be, because class swapping is permitted, without unfairly penalizing some players. For example, someone who has no other class, what do you do about them? Also, what is the time limit? How do you handle the start of match so that (a) players can have time to swap when required to, but also (b) can't miss the start of match timer?

Well, if a player has to swap class, it means someone else in his team has to, too. The system will pick the one with the most alts. You can also design it so that it gives an incentive to change class, instead of forcing it upon players. Like 15% increased PvP xp or something if they accept the deal. There'll still be some class stacking, but much less.

There are 0 systems in place to encourage build diversity. If you don't specifically design around intended / desirable outcomes, then you have to expect most players will choose the road most traveled / the fast lane / the path of least resistance / etc etc etc.

In fact, the game actually encourages quick, efficient wins (rewarding only wins) making the best pips/hour rate occur by running these OP specs. All design choices Anet has made so far regarding PvP--seemingly--WANTS players to all run whatever is fotm.

i.e., Anet wants you to play broken OP specs; or at the very least doesn't care. Build diversity is clearly not a goal within their current design paradigm.

One of the problems that makes this really tricky is that even if the match maker didn't allow class swapping and or profession stacking, that doesn't guarantee better matches. Each team can have one guardian, but one team could have a core guardian while the other could have a Firebrand which is more potentially game changing. If your team is match made without support while theirs is, that leaves your team down a critical role and there's nothing you can do about it.

Or balance the op class so players play them less?

So it would be more unlikely to meet double scourge or double mirage.
