Malyck : what of him ?

I feel like one of the most important lore characters ever has vanished and been underused.His storyline has so much potentiel. Do you think they'll use him to introduce a new part of the map, like a hidden continent with new Sylvaris and maybe even completely new races ?

The devs said recently that they are still looking for opportunities to work him in, but they won't do it until they can 'do it right'- meaning having a substantive piece of content centered on that payoff.

That said, a hidden continent is probably out of scope. We know he's from the Tyrian continent, so having him serve as our bridge to someplace across the ocean doesn't fit any better than having a better established character serving in the same role.

Well we know he is from Heart of Maguma, and they had planed on having his tree present but it was cut. So they could easily have us push past Maguma deeper towards his tree.

According to my thread in the ANet question&answer section, one of the devs said basically he's still on the board but dunno what to do with it. His lore haven't been cut/cancelled but their original idea was cut…. :(Originally he and his tree was going to be a part of HoT expansion but got cancelled due not enough time. (I think?)

We'll see if we're ever going to meet him again or see another tree of the Sylvaris.. almost 6 years now without hearing anything from him, :lol:

basically: his story among with few other stories were intended to be elaborated on in HoT, but due to time constrains AN was unable to "give him justice" so the story was not featured in HoT.

right now he's part of group of loose ends that are hanging out there waiting for opportunity for devs to "give it proper justice"

logically, since he and his brethren were not protected by the dream, they all became Mordrem Guards.

Devs stated this wasn’t the case.

Well if they can't do him justice in the game due to time constraints, why not have them either write or have someone write a book maybe diary style detailing short stories of what happen to Malyck and other loose ends? The diary could be belong to a priory researcher capturing whatever it was.

well there is part of Maguuma still closed on the world map north of silverwastes and dry top maybe he's from there also with mordermoth that was active maybe they got corrupted as lore inform us that Ronan stole the seed of pale tree and was more seeds in that cave and sylvari were intended to serve the jungle dragon but ventrai tablet and the dreams have helped many of them overcome the call of the dragon and resisted the corruption lets hope his tree have done something like the pale tree to help against corruption.
