Artaz.3819
How about a one-week event between re-match links (and as a prelude to Alliances) that assigns everyone to a random server? Every WvW player logging in by account will sequentially pick the next server that is up and each subsequent player account login goes in alphabetical order for new temporary world assignment. You then stay on the same temporary world server for just that one week. People can live without their friends and guilds for one week. New mix/match week means new friends, new enemies, more chatter, and new winners to change it all up. People will step up and be commanders, people will troll, people will recruit, meta zerg builds may even seem out of place, but most importantly, WvW attendance will lift as we'll all be PUGs.Discuss. DemonSeed.3528
Some servers get this every 8 weeks. Servers that they would never consider ever ever ever wanting to be paired with, so they have already experienced it for the most part. I think the most difficult part would be getting people to "step up" as commanders, not many are always willing to do it, and those that do get abused by some. For the most part, if everyone becomes pugs, some experienced commanders who favour comps will not touch it with a ten foot stick, especially if seperated from their guildies. I don't think throwing everyone into the pot will be a good idea, it will just cause disarray. What would be done with national servers?
XenesisII.1540
Wait for the alliance system then? this will probably require a lot of coding to do which is already being done for the system in the works. We certainly don't need them wasting time for side events that are not quick to do. Gwaihir.1745
You couldn't just do that. You'd end up with massive imbalance as theres how many servers, 12? The chances of a server landing astronomically more wvw players is very high given the number of pve players logging every second. You would have to pull data on a players average hours per week in wvw to come remotely close to pulling sequential balanced teams.
Offair.2563
People already seem to do this kind of stuff and others just call them bandwagoners.

Not that im for or against this idea, however ppl also said similar about the No Down week and majority ended up enjoying it.

For example: 12 new servers. But like @XenesisII.1540 said above, this would be a lot of time towards this which could be used towards the alliance revamp. Widmo.3186
Would be fun to see,no server choosing, all randomized. However, probably won't work because of balance causes.
Artaz.3819
I agree, it is potentially a fair amount of development time unless alliances already makes this possible...but it is also a possible way to find out of bugs in new alliance distributions as everyone logs in (or does not) for the week. Not sure I understand the balance issue clearly. If you mean world server tiering (1-up 1-down), it's already going to be blown up. For distribution of players, it should be relatively stable and statistically speaking, a high play-time player and a low-play time player would have equal chance of being placed on any server so the chances of any severely out-manned would be pretty low.WvW is a popular community building game mode with a lot of PvE players that never even try to get into it because it is gated behind perceived WvW guild, meta elite builds and large time requirements to learn what to do. XenesisII.1540
People like playing with their friends and established guilds though, and in fact is a large motivator in keeping people logging in. You can already get the "random experience" by just playing on another random server your friends or guilds are not on, links happen every 8 weeks were a server may get a new server to link with that's new people to meet in most instances. So not sure why this needs to be a weekly event that forces everyone to do this. Trying to abolish elite guilds and meta builds for a week isn't going to make pve players get into wvw faster, in fact might even be harder since the community guilds that usually pick up those players wouldn't be around either.Again, the alliance system will also be shaking up populations every 8 weeks, with alliance of guilds, single guilds, and players being mostly randomly thrown into worlds based on different information of players to balance those worlds out. Lots of opportunity then to also meet new people and guilds.
