Jackal 3 or Skimmer 3 first?

If you are a bit of a map clearing + insight retentive person, like me, do you get more mileage out of Jackal 3 or Skimmer 3 with respect to getting to insights and map clearing objects, at least through the first 3 zones?

I ask because I was looking at Dulfy's Desert Highlands insight guide, and was surprised to see some Jackal 3 in there, and only some 'basic skimmer' in the first two zones.

To help you find & upgrade mounts, the forum's own @"Rikimaru.7890" has posted an awesome guide. It offers an answer to your question about why you want Jackal 3 first (short version: because there are so many more mastery points that become available once it's unlocked).

• Find raptor
• Train it to T3
• Get Springer & Skimmer
• Train Springer to T3
• Get the Jackal
• Train Jackal to T3
• Train Skimmer to T3
• Train all to T4 (or save some mastery points for ... see spoiler above).

Thank you! I 'suspected' that was the route I needed to go, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

Got my Jackal since I posted, trying to level it up. I had leveled the Skimmer up to 2, but haven't bought it yet. :)

I agree with Ill's list, jackal 3 is needed for specialization collections.

You freaking ROCK. I've been following those steps unknowingly, and got Springer to 3 before I went to get my Skimmer, but I was chatting in Black Citadel with another player last night and what he and you said confirm that I'm good to go ahead and get the Jackal.

Woo mounts!!! LOL
