Barn Owl Griffon Skin?

It wouldn't have the same body structure. I don't think it would work so well.

How so?It's a griffon which means it still has the exact same body, just a flat face

Well there's owl griffons in the game and with the right dye channels one of them could probably look like a barn owl griffon. (Mainly it needs to be possible to make the face completely white, while having two shades of brown on the body, unlike the Sky Bandit which is almost right but has stripes across the face).

The other difference is that barn owl features feathers aren't distinct. Apart from the ones on the wings they're all like soft, fluffy down feathers so they look very smooth (they're also incredibly soft), and most of the griffons have a very clear feather pattern across the body, but again that might be something that could be hidden with dye.

I'd definitely like an owl skin for the griffon. They're beautiful birds and would really suit some of my characters.

Good suggestion, imo! :+1:Anet, I'd probably buy it! I could see at least 2 of my toons sporting a Barn Owl Griffon.And, generally speaking, I love owls! :smiley:

Taken from the Griffon mount wiki page: "According to its 3D designer, the owl-like features of the griffon were inspired by the barn owl, noting especially its heart-shaped face, which is also commonly seen in many species of barn owl."

So, we already have a barn owl griffon skin. It'd be nice to see one more realistically depicting the facial features of a barn owl, but seeing that the original skin is meant to represent one already, I don't know if they'll go back and make another one. I could be wrong, though.

I'd love to see skins branch out a bit more from their original concept. The Tremor Armodillo is a great example of how much they can deviate from their original concept. There are so many things they could do with them if they just pushed it a little further. A Chinese themed/dragon themed griffin would be amazing, as much as I like my lion.

There's also quite a few Mordrem-esque Heart of Thorns creatures I'm surprised they haven't implemented as mount skins yet. The roller devil or whatever its called, the teagriff would be a decent griffin skin, the raptors have a pretty good variety, the smokescale could be a jackal, and perhaps a frog or something as a springer skin.

They really haven't pushed their designs as much as I was expecting them to with the mounts so far. Just a lot of slight pattern differences jammed into these lottery boxes so you more often than not waste your rolls on those instead of the more unique skins. I guess that's the model they're sticking with or they're just trying to space out the more unique ones further and further to last through multiple expansions. It seems like we get a wider variety of glider skins than we do mount skins but I suppose the glider skins are significantly easier to make.

It really looks nothing like a barn owl though, just a normal owl.

The model is already in game and compared to the manticore mount we have, this one actually looks like griffon.

The Griffon can have this face, I would love to have that owl face!We have seen in our Griffon skins that they are able to change it's face and in the upcoming skins, one of the Griffon skin will look like a Hawk/Eagle face.

The griffon has four legs whereas an owl doesn't. The body shape of the griffon isn't even avian until you add wings to it. That's all I meant by saying that the body structures weren't similar.
