PoF maps are pretty empty, makes it hard to do anything.

Hi,As the title suggests: Path of Fire maps are quite empty.I've not played this game for as long as others have but I've managed to beat the story (fully), got myself pretty good gear and all my mounts.I'm currently in the process of trying to complete the rest of the content and i'm loving the collections (side quest) side of the game tremendously.

Which brings me to the point of this: I'm currently trying to do the achievements in Path of Fire.And I'm experiencing a lot of frustration due to the fact that most of the collections are linked to group events.Now this would not be a problem other than for the fact that I'm really struggling to get a group for almost anything on the PoF maps due to the low population of the maps.I would completely understand this if this content was very old.But it's not.It's not even a year old.

I've looked at other threads that also talk about this and the consensus is that the maps are just not rewarding enough.Currently I'm doing the funerary collection and stuck on the Vabbi meta because no one wants to do it. (the punchline is the last phase needs SO MANY PEOPLE)I've been stuck on it or a week now, turning up for the meta every time it's active and even an hour before to try to recruit the numbers ahead of time.No one wants to do it, instead I see lot's of players on the Isle of Istan doing the same 4 events over and over and over again.

The only thing I can say is this is very poor design.Like, failure at the basic level.And it's not like it's something complicated to fix, just make bounties and meta events actually rewarding.You could tie them to dailies.The Living World maps all have dailies, why can't the crystal dessert have them?And I will repeat myself.THIS CONTENT IS NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD.Just under 11 months.

So basically people like me who could not play this within the first month of the expansion because of real life events are now unable to do it.I would understand if the content is years old. But it's not, 11 f'kin months....

I'll come to the end of this now...But I would love to hear from someone from Anet comment on it and try to justify this.I know for a fact this is a simple fix, it's not changing content, it's not creating something new... all it would be is to tamper with the loot.

Seriously, I don't want this inept failure at the basic level ruin in what I've experienced as a really good MMO.This comes from a love for the game and a want for nothing but to see it get better.

on a serious note:look on the lfg on the weekend, there are still people out there that organzise those events.

I have been looking for groups all weekend and been looking for that specific meta event for an entire week.Don't mean to be rude but did you read anything I wrote past the title before commenting?

No offense taken, but all i can say is that there ARE groups. Im on EU though. since you didn´t tell us where you are from i could just give you the only possible sollution i could think of.i am sorry, and i´m speaking from expierience here, a lot of people are not "capable of using the lfg correctly" or even not using it. since you didn´t mention it directly, i assumed.

I understand that. You want to maximise your rewards for your time.But as a said, for a player like myself who was unable to play within the first months of the expansion I'm now completely locked out of content that's not even a year old.

I'm on EU myself, and yes you are right. As a MMO vet I also do know that a lot of people completely ignore features of the game like a LFG tool.

This is exactly what a segment of the player population who disliked HoT wanted though. They also called HoT badly designed.

That's a fair argument.If you look at other MMO's and I will use WoW as an example, but the more the map expands overall the more diluted anything but the current new content becomes.I used to say that WoW should have used the content they currently had instead of making a now expansion map.it makes all previous content obsolete. This along side no incentives to return to older content makes it impossible for newer players to accomplish any old content that was designed to be done in a group.

Istan drains too many players from other maps. It needs to be less profitable past one daily run, and PoF metas need to have better rewards to compensate. Rather than staying hours in one spot, people should want to jump from map to map doing different stuff.

For example, by removing drops from enemies in the istan meta, and improving the drops from the chests to compensate. Then making most of the chests appear only once a day, have only a few final chests past upon successful event past the first daily try.

Then:

  • Casino Blitz should have greater bonuses when picking over 90% of the coins in each round, and a choice chest from the piñata for those who participated in all 3 rounds.
  • Desert Highlands treasure hunt meta should give bonus rewards to those who dig up 15 or more chests, and get a progress counter for discovered chests, and trigger a final boss if the progress is filled. Something like an undead or ghost stone summit or corsair who hid all the treasures and has been enraged by all the digging. Those who recovered at least 10 superior treasure chests and defeated the boss would get a choice chest.
  • Elon Riverlands doppelganger meta should give bonus rewards to those who gather enough dispersed magic, and a choice chest to those who gathered enough magic and defeated the doppelganger.

And the choice chests should be improved too. Currently their rewards are rather underwhelming compared to HoT ones, since in hot you also get lots of keys to use in chests that appear as events are completed an bosses are defeated, but in PoF you are given just a final chest after the boss on only two of the metas, and that's it.

Honestly, regardless of whatever the topic is.A large vocal portion of Casual players will always complain that they can not just blast through content by beating their keyboards with the palm of their hands and still come out victorious.:angry:

This is what i'm talking about.Istan literally is 4 events. Done over and over again.I 100% agree with you that encouraging map swapping is the most ideal way to combat lack of players on certain maps.There are currently dailies that do just that, "do 4 events in Ascalon" or "do 4 events in Orr"There really is no excuse not to have a:"Complete the Vabbi meta" one day and for the next day to be something like "Complete the Verdant Brink meta"Then, anyone who has been left in the dust due to not being able to play when it was current wont be locked out.they might have to wait 3 days to do it, but at least it would be done eventually instead of no one wanting to do it because they have already done it and it's not rewarding.

Kourna is hardly “unfinished”. The map doesn’t have to be jam-packed with content.

There has to be a fine balance overall, perhaps some episodes in living world should not just be "here is a new map".

Kourna is hardly “unfinished”. The map doesn’t have to be jam-packed with content.

There has to be a fine balance overall, perhaps some episodes in living world should not just be "here is a new map".

I haven’t seen any maps that are “here is a new map”. There’s always been plenty to do. The only downside is that eventually those things get exhausted once you’ve gotten all of the achievements and new rewards.

Istan has as much “dead space” as Kourna except it has a farm that’s rewarding.

I despise HoT but don't advocate any changes because I understand that there is a segment of the player base that really likes it. That's cool. I just don't go there unless I have to. That's my choice. I do enjoy PoF for the exploration and understand about the lack of meta events; however, what keeps me out of PoF is the ridiculous aggro ranges. I can deal with the mobs, but the aggro makes it annoying. This could also be part of the reason that the maps seem emptier.
