bad luck

i want raven mini so bad so pls add it in gem store for 400 gems instead of let us gamble our hard earned gold. just bought a key but ofc no second miniature claim ticket. my last 37 gold gone, i wish i can trade black lion tickets for miniature tickets because i dont need those weapon skins. my rng with black lion chests havent get better in this 2 years i play gw2 i think i got only 3 times a 5th slot from chest.

It did used to be a gem store item (hence why I have a duplicate which I'd happily give you if I coukd). SHame they discontinued the avian pack

yes but only 1 statue a chest with my rng, (i have 5 at the moment) its ridiculous that games these days always want more and more. we cant have things for a fair price but we have to gamble with money to maybe get what we want. i also wanted a racoon mini but then i have to play gw1 for few months...

I've been playing since release and still haven't gotten a precursor drop or out of the forge.

Use your Black Lion Tickets to purchase weapon(s), sell them on the TP, and use the Gold for that one more Miniature Ticket.

I spent close to 2000 gold and around $100 and didnt manage to get the any of the avian minis at the time. Didnt get anything desired at all actually.

Keep in mind, before spending any more, OP that you could spend a small fortune and never get anything of use to you.

I really don't understand why they didn't make these tradable when they were first moved from a gem store pack (direct purchase) to RNG. It wouldn't be the first time a mini pet has gone from account bound to tradable and it would make sense because it would give people who end up with useless extras a way to trade them to people who want them.

I hope and I am also rather sure that RNG boxes which can be bought with money will be prohibited worldwide. It's just a cheap and questionable tactic to build revenue. If you give real money you should get what you want.

Also, the same with the exclusive dyes. I wonder why there is no uproar. It's absolutely despicable how they handle this: you can buy the 'exclusive' dye packs and usually you just get normal shit. What is this? Sorry, but ultimately this has to go.

when i sold kudzu long ago i bought 10 keys. got only 2 x bonus slot so 8 keys is always wasted. when i look youtube ppl get very much bonus slots.sure i like the game and i sometimes buy gems for upgrades. and when new xpack comes i always buy most expensive version because gems. so anet gets enough money from me. but sometimes i want things for sure and i don’t want to gamble with money. sometimes it’s enough and don’t take many more money from us.

I mean, I suppose it sucks that you failed to get the thing you wanted in the RNG... but was there actually any expectation that you would? I don't understand why anyone comes here and starts crying about how RNG failed them, because of course it did, that's what RNG does.

It's annoying when there's no good reason for it though. The mini raven, owl and hawk are account bound because 4 years ago they were sold as a pack in the gem store, so there was no need for them to be tradable. Since then they've only returned via RNG methods - first as drops from black lion chests and now from Miniature Claim Tickets which are only obtained from black lion chests. The only claim ticket minis which are account bound are ones which used to be sold directly and weren't updated when they were moved to RNG rewards. If they were tradable like the others there would be no issue because the OP (and anyone else who wants them) could buy them from people who got ones they don't want, or who want to use up spare claim tickets.

(And in case anyone's wondering, no I'm not complaining because I want them - I bought them when they were first available. I just know how annoying it is when an oversight like this makes it impossible to get the items you want.)

nothing to do with crying. i hate it that nowadays all game developers or ppl who create games, want more and more money for items ingame instead of sell it for a fair price. let say 5 euro for a mini, no they give you a chance and hope you spend 50 euro for the same items. ofc game developers want money because its a company but 50 euro for a mini (example) its the price of a full xpack or dlc, just for some pixels you like. fine if you like it that way but not everyone is rich. and not all ppl want to gamble.i try to get as much gold as possible ingame but 1 key is 37 gold. its a long grind for the gold and then rewarded with junk loot.

Don't gamble what you aren't willing to lose. Black lion chest is a gamble and it's always been very clear that it is a gamble.

Also, if you hate the business model so much then why did you buy into it? There are certain purchases in the gem store that I will never make, even though there are things I would like from them. Why? Because I hate the way they are sold (or at least the price, if they must be sold that way).

Even if laws are passed, what are the odds that they would apply to the new iteration of BL Chests/Keys? Let's say that such a law can be interpreted to mean that all items sold in games must have a set price. All ANet would have to do is make a minor change so that any item that can be gained via RNG can also be gained via Statuette. There. Everything has a set price. In that case, all the RNG would do is lower the price (i.e., you get the item directly, or get extra Statuettes). Will lawmakers then step in and say, "You can't price things that high." or "You aren't allowed to sell items by selling tokens and requiring multiple tokens for a purchase."?

Were I to look at Statuettes from ANet's perspective, I might think that whoever came up with that idea is brilliant. The idea positions ANet to be much more likely to be able to keep selling Keys even if anti-gamble-box laws are passed. It also had a dramatic effect on chest openings, if the TP price escalation on chests is any indicator of demand.

As much as I understand the OP's unhappiness with the way chests work, there is only one sure way to eliminate RNG as a sales technique in games. That is abstention. Stay away. Make the tactic unprofitable. I very much doubt that any game's player-base has the collective will to pull that off.

If the box drops random items it would be considered as gambling even if you are guaranteed a statuette. By your logic if casinos guaranteed 1 penny in return for each random roll, it would no longer be gambling.

The statuettes are brilliant. But the only way they would be perfect is if ALL items in the black lion chest ever would be available at any time.

No one, much less a law-making body, is going to think that a penny returned is worth the quarter dropped into a slot machine. Pennies and quarters hold real world value and accepted relative valuation. The only value in a virtual item is the price set by the seller and the subjective value assigned by the buyer. So, no, that example has nothing to do with my logic.

In the future, maybe a hypothetical court will review a case against ANet over BLC's due to a hypothetical anti-random-box law. That court would in all likelihood see that the uncertainty over whether the buyer will eventually get a desired item or not has been removed. Maybe the court would also see that there is still uncertainty in random boxes with tokens. Maybe -- and this is what we can't know until such laws exist -- the wording of the hypothetical law regulating random box sales will be satisfied by the removal of uncertainty over the worst-case scenario, and maybe not. Me, I choose cynical. I believe that there will be loopholes in any law, and that tokens will prove to be one if such a law is ever passed.

lol i bought few bl chest keys around 41 gold each x3 + 1 from pvp trach and 1 from story to get enough scraps. and now 6th birthday present i get 2 for every char :DBUT thanks anet for the awesome rewards. it feels like a normal bday with all nice presents. wardrobe unlock gave me Harrowing Maroon Dye, and from package i choose permafrost. i am very happy that the kit isnt rng and we can choose wich one we want. now i have it without spending all the gold :) got the raven too, happy player again.
