    Great patch..... you implement a new weapon and we get crashes all over now.... i see anet got their heads on but not on their shoulders.... crashing all the time ._.

    have crashed 11 times now on any toon all in LA by the forge, crafting stations, bank, TP. a guildie came out of PvP and crashed is stuck in PvP now.

    You must be new to MMO's - it's Patch Day - - ALWAYS expect … the unexpected

  • Same here, its getting really tiring having misc issues every new patch no matter how big or small they are. Is anet capable of coding? Because even starting from PoF and every other major release afterwards it's been nothing but issues and i'm really starting to doubt anet's talents.

    I think you are too harsh on the developers as most of what they make works fine from the start. So they can code.

    That said, I understand your feelings. I almost never play immediately after a patch comes out because very often there is a very severe bug, sometimes even game breaking. The fact is that GW 2 doesn't have maintenance windows and downtimes (besides the download time of the patch itself) are almost non-existent. Not many MMO's can say that. But I start to wonder what the difference is between several hours downtime on patch day and the current situation that I don't play after a patch is live for many hours (often not until the next morning (EU time), so at least 12 hours). I can't/don't play GW2 on Tuesday evening when it is a patch day, downtime or not.

    So it would be nice if ArenaNet somehow can improve the patch day experience and I don't have to write off Patch Tuesday evening as non-playing time for GW2.

    Well yea I mean I don't bash on anet like they're doing everything wrong. But it's just tiring and sad that every patch day there's something broken that is not in the closest related to the patch contents. These sorts of things are just massive putdowns that don't help their reputation.

    Wow guys. You know, you could always just "Send report to ArenaNet" via the button after the crash. If not, simply copy/paste all of that into a text file or put it up on pastebin. Doing this clogs the threads with exceedingly long posts.

    Yeah, reports sent via the client... but this is affecting a third of the squad during a Noon Tequatl. Expect a TON of incoming for this.

    That said, I understand your feelings. I almost never play immediately after a patch comes out because very often there is a very severe bug, sometimes even game breaking. The fact is that GW 2 doesn't have maintenance windows and downtimes (besides the download time of the patch itself) are almost non-existent. Not many MMO's can say that. But I start to wonder what the difference is between several hours downtime on patch day and the current situation that I don't play after a patch is live for many hours (often not until the next morning (EU time), so at least 12 hours). I can't/don't play GW2 on Tuesday evening when it is a patch day, downtime or not.

    So it would be nice if ArenaNet somehow can improve the patch day experience and I don't have to write off Patch Tuesday evening as non-playing time for GW2.

    Well yea I mean I don't bash on anet like they're doing everything wrong. But it's just tiring and sad that every patch day there's something broken that is not in the closest related to the patch contents. These sorts of things are just massive putdowns that don't help their reputation.

    Every MMO bar none have the exact same issues on patch days and updates.... it's just the nature of the beast that an mmo is. One small piece of code can interact with millions of others and all manner of cascading effects can happen once it goes live and a hundred thousand players begin tearing through it all of a sudden.
    Other MMOs have maintenance and downtime and still suffer the same things... be thankful ANET have very little of any of that.
    Sure it's frustrating for a few hours but it will get sorted.

    BTW I think their reputation will be just fine :)

    I know the feeling spent the last couple of months trying to get to the bottom of this with Victory or Death and losing 30mins a time too. What we know for certain is that it affects only a small portion of the playerbase and therefore it narrows down the possible options. Also, various have reported that it's not always 100% they get disconnected and occasionally trying enough times they can get through which unfortunately can mislead people into thinking they changed something that fixed it when in reality it was not related at all.

    What has now worked for me is to connect to GW2 via a VPN connection rather than directly as from my tracing it appears to be a problem with the route through the internet taken and unfortunately the game uses TCP rather than UDP which means packet loss can cause resynchs and disconnection issues which clearly GW2 code is not great at recovering from. It's part of the reason UDP is more popular for games, although usually leads to devs implementing their own reliability functionality for data that mustn't be lost.

    What I did was to the use the chat command /IP in game to get the IP address for the GW2 servers and then lookup where in the world those servers were (Germany in my instance) and I then connect my VPN to a server in Germany that way I have far fewer hops from my connection to the GW2 servers. I have tested this several times now turning the VPN on and off and it consistently fails without it and when switched on I've succeeded every time. Not really a solution for everyone as a lot wouldn't want to pay a subscription to a VPN just to be able to play this game but clearly whatever

    Are you in the UK using Virgin Media as your Internet Provider by any chance? I know of 4 others who have the issue with the same ISP.

  • Everytime I load and starts to load LA, I get a error disconnected from server.

  • Well, since the last patch, the crashes have been substantially reduced, but I have still gotten one or two. However, I'm getting a LOT of disconnects (these don't appear to be specific to any given map; I've had it in LA, my GH, Crystal Desert, Lake Doric, etc). I've rebooted my modem and system, and also run a repair ("E:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe" -repair) to no avail.

    Crashes have continued with me. It's better in PvE, although I still crash on occasion (noticed it happening frequently with PvE story). However, I am crashing extremely frequently in WvW right now. :(

    This is beyond annoying. I've tried the fix listed here and no avail. I get booted after killing the mouth.

  • This crash, that I posted in an earlier post of mine on this thread, tends to happen in high population maps that include water in them. And the second round of the treasure hunt in the Labyrinthine Cliffs. And the skimmer race in Labyrinthine Cliffs. Regardless of what my position in the map was.

    Really inconsistent problem that sometimes is never an issue, but at times I can't even stay logged in for 10 min.

    Randomly happily playing -> Black screen -> struggle to relog and have to close client at character screen often.

    I have no idea what causes any of this, I up date my drivers and still happens.
    I Port fowrads, Still happens.

    This has been going on since HoT but I feel it's gotten worse lately.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    I'd open a ticket, but it seems like the line has been very busy and if I can sort this out without taking up a devs time that'd be even better.
