When you are 100% sure, then every single other player must have disconnects every 20 seconds as well, because everyone has the same game. And I am sure, it's not this way.

You can try a repair of the game data. start the gw2 executable with the option -repair

Was I able to help you or give you a hint? Click on Helpful and/or Thumbs up, I would appreciate it alot!
When you encounter a bug ingame, at first you should file a ticket via the ingame command /bug, as only this way the devs will know exactly where you were, when the bug happened.

You can send a copy of your Pingplotter results to the Tech CS Team, and they can advise you.

    Good luck.

  • After the last -big- update my game has been crashing randomly... Here is the first part of the crashing log thingy

  • Pretty much the exact same thing happening to me. Game crashes literally every three minutes.

  • Player.9621Player.9621 Member ✭✭✭

so what is the fix for this?

The pointy end goes in the other man.

  • I just installed and returned to the game yesterday. The game keeps crashing on me and it happens as fast as every couple minutes. It just goes to the desktop and there is nothing open. No launcher or error message, just the desktop as if nothing is being used. What is causing this and how do I fix it? It is unplayable at this point. Thanks.

Continues to be an issue, are there any more who have experienced this?

Any thoughts into what could cause this? It's almost unplayable since I cannot commit myself to any content without risk of burdening the group.

  • A search in Tech Support resulted in several hits; here's one: https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/comment/126867/#Comment_126867

You could peruse the others for more tips.

    Good luck.

huh, i guess everyone with this problem just gave up and quit the game then

    just started getting this today

  • Everything started at yesterdays evening. I was playing game and boom. Game shuted down and i see desktop. No crash information or something. From there i have this all the time. It is impossible to play with this. Sometimes its 30 minutes after i launch game, sometimes 30 seconds. Somewhere i saw information about windowed fullscreen displaying but that didint help me. Anyone has answer for that? Otherwise I can't play.

  • Does your windows event viewer have any errors in there right before the game crashes, incase its something in the background causing it to suddenly start happening,

Have you updated any software and or hardware recently.

The -repair command should fix this, I normally get the c0000005 error after the game has been patched, ( rarely mind you ) or if i somehow manage to get a broken texture ingame ( the pink box one ) and the -repair command fixes it everytime.

  • My drivers have newest version installed and like i said there wasnt any error or crash info.

I have actually done repair around 4 times (the game asked me twice to check if there were problems) the problem was gone for a while but after yesterday fixes it started crashing again.

  • Exact same story here. I left the game after living world season 2, just recently came back and started playing through the expansions. I get disconnected with error code 7:11:3:191:101, on average, once per instance. I got through HoT and season 3, and I'm most of the way through PoF, but it's just not fun anymore; It feels like a chore when I know I'm probably going to have to do it over again anyway.

  • I'm having a hard time understanding how this thread can go completely untouched by the devs for almost a year. What is the point of even having a tech support forum if no one at Anet is even listening?

  • Just occurred again in To Kill a God. Kill the boss, get a cutscene, booted out to character select with 7:11:3:191:101.

Because Beast of War flows into this one, I am now stuck; unable to get to the To kill a God instance because the gate (that was open in the instance) is closed, and I was left at the place where Beast of War begins.

  • Still blocked. In the week since I filed a ticket, I have been given a total of one suggestion from support to solve this problem, and that suggestion was stupid: change the game to windowed mode. Tried it anyway, and that's the attempt that got me stuck.

Maybe I just need to seek a refund for PoF; I can't play it because of this bug that ANet refuses to do anything about, so what did I pay for?

Well, I feel your Pain...the frustration is real.
Up above in the January dates 2018, there is some discussion alternatives offered but, afraid seems complicated to do for me.
    Will be rereading those.

  • I was plagued with this problem too. Tried 5 times to complete Victory or Death. Something I read in one of the forums got me thinking and I changed one setting that seems to have helped. I'm not going to guarantee it will work and requires more testing to be confident... but I was able to complete 2 story quests where I'd disconnected repeatedly and my wife also finished one she'd tried 3 times.

Options > General > Streaming > Content Streaming >> change to "On Demand"

The setting was set to 'Idle'. Something someone said in a forum post regarding the disconnects seeming to come during transitions from cutscene to non-cutscene made me think that perhaps the game was trying to get some piece of content and since the download setting was set to Idle, it was waiting for the connection to be Idle. After waiting a period of time, it failed out the download which caused it to lose the instance. By setting it to On Demand, it allows the game to download that content when needed. This is totally just a theory, but has been working for me so far. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.

Funny enough, this is the exact same as the most recent suggestion I got from support. Unfortunately, I can't tell if it worked because I still can't get to the entrance of the To Kill a God instance.

I finally had this issue resolved and it was not an issue with the game or my computer, it was the modem that I had from the cable company. Even though I had had several tech's out to fix the packet loss issue, I finally got one that looked at the modem and said that the modem was obsolete for almost 4 years. He replaced the modem a few months back and I've not had any disconnects due to packet loss since he did.

If you' haven't replaced the modem in the last year or so (especially if it's a cable company provided modem), it may be the issue. I know that's not going to be the case for everyone but it fixed the issue for me.

If life gives you melons, you're probably dyslexic.

  • After 2 days of waiting to hear back from support on this issue, I ended up using a Teleport to Friend to a friend with a Griffon to get to the entrance.

I got through the instance without disconnecting this time by skipping both post-fight cutscenes as quickly as possible. Then, I had to go find the cutscenes on youtube to see what happened. I'm constantly looking over my shoulder for this bug while trying to play through the story; what a terrible way to have to play the game.

  • Just a reminder: this thread has been active for 267 days, without a single visit from ANet.

  • Same thing happening to me, I am at my wits end. I can't keep doing the same mission over and over. It is definitely keeping me from buying anymore gems too.

Having this issue while connecting on any server with an IP having 2 digits at the beginning being 35. Two of my characters are stuck in an instance of Rata Sum, forcing me to play another one of my characters - a Charr warrior. And just today, this same character can't even go into Plains of Ashford(which I've been in earlier on a couple of times) or he'll get stuck there, so I have to alt + f4 everytime I check to see if the issue is fixed. Both of these servers start with the 35.xxx IP addresses, so I'm guessing I'm barred from entering any instance with any similar IP address. Tried asking support, didn't get an answer on the ticket in days, so I assume that they have no clue what's going on(from an issue originating in 2017 or older, why hasn't this been looked into deeply yet?).

When are they going to give us an option on the character select screen to choose which area in the world our character can spawn, an ability to pick an instance to spawn in, or even automatically a simple change of the instance to another after a minute of waiting on the loading screen if my character can't connect to the one I'm currently joining? Come on devs, people are getting really tired of not being able to play a game we paid for(bought around release time and have both dlcs).

  • i sent a ticket with no reply or help. Also i am facing error 7 but the issue is that i am stuck in rata sum with 2 of my characters but if i create a new character i am able to play. Before going to rata sum with my second character i was able to play but then i went to rata sum and it has been 5 days since i am stuck.

Welp, today has been the worst day for Guild Wars 2. Here's hoping I can still get a full refund for a game that I would consider unplayable, and a support team that has no clue what to do(indicated by their lack of response to a ticket after practically a week of it being up). After having a family member in Germany log into my account and get my character out(since apparently, the internet in Germany actually connects to the game instead of giving an error code 7), I decide to play as my warrior charr and do a dungeon in Queensdale. After doing the dungeon, I get error code 5 directly after finishing it and was locked out for the whole day. Decided not to contact support because I already knew the response message would never arrive.

Next, I hit level 80 as my elementalist Norn. After fully levelling the bar by doing events, I now keep getting an annoying pop up to tell me to pick a mastery - which isn't possible since all of them are locked. So I search for how to disable this pop-up message and apparently, you can't. Why? I have no idea. I do know, however, that the real question is: Why is it shoving a message right in my face when masteries aren't even unlocked yet? So I had to force myself to start the story and get it over with. The story marker tells me to get into Lion's Arch, so I teleport to traders forum and another error code 5 pops up right after. Great, now what the hell do I do? Whatever, I'll try logging in again. Surprise surprise! I made it in! The game decided to puts me back into the area I was previously with the message "the waypoint you've selected has become contested", which I was somewhat fine with. At least I can still play the game...until I follow the green story marker into a portal to Rata Sum and stuck in the same instance with error code 7. What a depressing day.

Since this morning (no Windows 10 updates afaik) the game instantly crashes as soon as I click the .exe

This only happens when I start boot the game up from my SSD, my backup HDD game works flawlessly after patching. arcDPS has been disabled and I don't use any further addons. GW2 is the only programm that doesn't work from my SSD, Overwatch and other games work without problems. I can't do much with the provided error log, -repair does not work, the game just keeps crashing.

Do you have ArcDPS installed? Be sure to update it after every patch (especially any that have skill changes, big or small).

You can also try copying the known-good version exe and .dat files over the one that is causing your trouble.

Running a repair on the version that is having the problem might also help, as well as clearing out the cache and the .tmp files (caution on the last, because that also resets some of your preferences and there's no other way to save them).

Finally, before doing any of that, start a support ticket to ensure a personalized response. ANet support is still suffering from backlog, so the sooner you open, the sooner they can help. (If you resolve the issue on your own, great; you can just tell them and they'll close the ticket.)

PS please use the spoiler tag to hide the error message. Most of it isn't helpful for troubleshooting and it makes it tricky for people to read the thread.
    (thanks!)

  • Made the mistake of buying gems to get the living story season 3. Not playing a long boss mission over and over hoping I won't get disconnected at the very end yet again. Fool me once and all that.

  • I have had a very bad player experience in gw2 8/29. My game crashed 10 times during that day and I think it has something to do with the Tuesday patch. All of my discord team speak and other stuff is working fine. I would also get kicked to character section screen which I don't normally get kicked to unless gw2 is acting up.

  • Options > General > Streaming > Content Streaming >> change to "On Demand"

Worked for me, Thank you @Valdacil.5367 ( after hours and hours and trying.... ) my story is done now.

I was plagued with this problem too.

Good luck.

5 bloody hours spent trying to fix this blasted problem. And THIS is what made it finally work. THANK YOU SO MUCH! <3

This seems to happen only in instanced content (raids/fractals), specifically during boss fights. Actually, I'm not sure if this affects other content, since I've only been doing instanced group play and solo WvW roaming.
It also started after the Aug 28 patch.

At first, I would crash at every boss in a fractal run, so I tried flushing the DNS cache and updating my graphics driver. This improved the situation to where instead of crashing every fight, it would crash every now and then.

I have tried checking the "--> Crash <--" log, but the latest logged crash was in May, so that doesn't really give me any clues.

  • Hi,
The game has started crashing my whole laptop as soon as I select one of my characters and enter the world. This has happened since July 2018. I was playing Path of fire for about 2 weeks prior with NO issues. I've been plays GW2 for 4 or 5 years now and this never happened before.
Date of crash: initial crash July 8th 2018. Every log on since then has crashed.
    Location: USA
    North America World
This is the Blue Screen code for today: IRQL Not Less of Equal and I have almost never gotten the same code for any of the crashes.
Game Advisor: I just ran the client but I don't know how to attach the file, because it is huge. It would be copying and pasting pages and pages of information.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Been having the game just randomly close with no error message when ever it feels like. I've tried repairing and deleting the .dat file, now I'm moving on to reinstalling the game.
    As for this stuff:
    10:10 PM PST 2018-09-23
    BC, Canada
    NA World
    Error code: none

Friendly reminder that this is still going on. Fresh windows 10 install, felt like playing GW2, downloaded it. Made a new character. I keep getting DCed within a minute with an error 7. Switched Streaming to On Demand.

After the fourth DC and my very first heart still at 3/4ths I'm calling it quits.

If you'd like to have a night version of the forums check the firefox addon called Stylish, and then Phyrene's work.

  • Date and time of crash: 05 Feb. 2019 ~ 16:30 EST
Your general location (state, country, etc.): Quebec, Canada
Whether you're on a NA or EU world: NA
Error code you received, if any, when you crashed: please see image attached
Your Game Advisor info, if you have run the program: sorry I don't know what this refers to. :anguished:

For what it's worth, running Windows 10 Home - 64bit
    ASUS laptop - Intel Pentium CPU N3540 @ 2.16GHz, 2159 Mhz, 4 Cores, 4 Logical Processors

The first time that I tried to play after the update, I didn't get past the character selections screen. Was presented with a dialog box with space for comments & sent that off.
This image attached is from the second time soon after. I was able to get into the game, play approximately 2 to 3 minutes before the disconnect.

  • It happened again just now, after less than a minute of play. :'(

  • I have been crashing too. I just logged in and crashed 5 times in 5 minutes! I have been in caldeon doing map completion, and I can't do that. Please fix this annoying DCing.
