Timekeeper outfit looks nothing like preview window in many areas in-game

I was playing around in various places and unless you're in very bright places, the Timekeeper outfit looks nothing like the preview window. The screenshots were taken with graphic settings on high. It's... very disappointing.

Is there anything Anet can do about this?

Wow, that certainly is so different! luckily I havent got it.. is it supposed to be that different in each map or something? I dont notice my other outfit changes that drastically..

It may be the specific colours you've used. I use different colours on mine, and I haven't noticed such wild differences, but I haven't looked closely either.

Some armour and cloth materials and/or dyes look different in different lights and depending whether you are inside or outside. I'm always finding nice-looking combinations in the preview screen that look just awful it in the flesh. That really sucks.

But then again, some dull-looking outfits in the preview screen look awesome in certain areas. Metal materials, for example, look pretty boring in preview but in the game world they reflect the environment and light, making them look much better.

Try separating your dyes by material instead of hue or set. That might help you decide which would look better on cloth, leather, and metal. As said above, some dyes look dull or bright depending on the material.

I wish I had seen this thread earlier, I have the exact same experience as the OP. Even with metallic dye on the metallic rim of the outfit, it still look "coarse" and not smooth and shiny

I find this is true with many armors and outfits, that they look different under different lighting conditions. Kind of like real life. Personally I love the Timekeeper outfit and am glad I got it since my Chronomancer wants everything time-related. Here she is with probably too many shinies. https://bit.ly/2I6myL2
