SUGGESTION: Increase aura share from 5 players to 10 players

Purpose is to help give Aura Share Tempest a role in large scale content (specifically WvW, but I assume other large scale content would similarly benefit).

Right now support aura-share doesn't have a role -- it's been pushed out by support FB.

    I like the ideal i realty do but an easier thing to ask for is to have the shouts interact with aura share in such a way to give out 10 auras that prioritize ppl that has not been hit with the shout or aura share before dubbing up on auras. So it give tempest the true support roll of 10 targets OR a much stronger 5 target support with double aura added effects.

    Honestly I'm not sure anything will give support tempest a role in large scale content right now. FB is too strong.

    Here is my list of characters i got so far:

    Elementalist 80 with tempest:Talman nul
    Necromancer 80 with reaper:Zex vokar
    Mesmer level 80 no chrono yet:Klanga voosh.
    Level 80 Ranger with druid spec Jedkhan.

    That would be cool. Would be cool too if Tempest had an aura detonate trait that interacted with all auras you apply (meaning auras applied to allies). Could have some interesting synergy with fire/water.

    Healing orbs are a mistake. Please delete them ANet.

    Also increase soothing mist to 10, that's even more important I think.

    Viable != Optimal

    Not viable = You only get carried, 10 players with a build as "viable as yours" can't properly do it.

    Also important, agreed. Any one change on its own is unlikely to bring support ele/tempest/weaver into the meta.

    I imagine it's hard to improve the support role without breaking other aspects. For example Sw/D weaver is a strong duelist, so how do we make tempest support competitive with FB while not making Sw/D Weaver some kind of god build?

    Auras in general are underwhelming now, but buffing them would buff other OP classes and builds, due to finishers etc. A unique interaction with ele would be preferable. I would:

    1. Make all aura abilities on weapons affect 5 people within approx the same range as banners - not finishers though

    2. Make powerful aura do two things:

    • add a new unique (offensive?) buff to each aura, without an ICD.
    • Make all auras including by finishers affect 10 players, again within same distance as banners.

    Something equivalent to stability could be added to earth aura with powerful auras, adding short duration counterplay to PoF boon strip spam.

    I don’t see it happening for the same reason other buff abilities were restricted to five players a couple years ago.

    Yep but there are examples (one as recent as the patch on Tuesday) where the devs are opening things up to more than five players.

    This is necessary to open up team builds. Take boon share mesmer. You need one per party if you want everyone to get the boons. With Tuesday's update you only need one mesmer per two parties, effectively opening up more spots for other professions. This could include professions that would have been shut out before.

    I don't actually need to be in THE META. Being a meta option on some more encounters would be enough. If that happens, pugs would open up alot more, as they would actually know that it is good. Buffing such stuff to 10 players is like the devs saying "we want to see this in raids". That statment alone may be worth more than one can think.

    The roles should be more in line, so that the meta isn't as strict as it is/was. And actually it is already happening. More and more non druids are played. They do the same with chrono now. At the same time I think thesy want druid and chrono remain meta, at least one per Party, but not as uncontested as in the past.

    Edit: As I've sen in your latest post we seem to agree on what's needed.

    With latest patch overloads hit 10 targets... what about Aura Share ANET!!!!!!

    • Swap the traits so aura heal is on water and aura share is on tempest and effect 10 people.

    • Give air a trait that grants supeerspeed and quickness on static aura.

    • Give fire back the trait to give might on auras and on trait giving pulsing resistance on fire aura.
    • Give earth a trait to give stability on magnetic aura and move the trait that gives improved protection to earth
    • Move the trait that gives vigor and regen on auras to water, this way water can give double regen on frost aura

    There, now tempest can be an offensive buffer (fire/air) or a defensive one (water/earth) or a mix... Core ele can use auras for sustain, weaver have a meaningfull way to deal with conditions out of water (fire aura resisting condis instead of cleansing) and there are a whole bunch of new playstyles open.
