Just found out today guardians got their staff buffs because of a thread in their subforum

while guardians got straight buffs to their staff as well as other less used skills and literally no nerfs, elementalists get some random dagger changes (that also included some nerfs to very same skills that were buffed because you know, it's elementalist) and nothing that was really asked for despite the big thread.

very interesting balance team.

The devs might still be working on it. Guardians have been asking for the staff auto to be un-boonsmited since the range reduction was implemented (a year or more ago now) and elementalist was viable back then. The elementalist concerns thread, on the other hand, appears to be less than a month old now, and has already received some response (even if it's not enough, better for ArenaNet to cautiously approach a good balance rather than seesaw back and forth).

If anything, elementalist is probably a higher priority for them, since the problem applies to the whole profession and not just to one weapon. (Conversely, though, this makes it more complex to decide on the right course of action.)

Yeah as if it hasn't been almost a year too since pof release and elementalist is just as "viable" back then (i.e. bottom most tier trash compared to other classes in spvp/wvw which is the main concern) as it is now.

Its funny as the animations is much worst then fire ball ever was hehe. Also its pure power creep in effect. I am trying to tell every one on ele forms even this game that anet only knows 2 things over nerfs and power creep you ask for one or the other any thing less is pointless.

There is a difference between coincidence and cause. Don't assume Anet buff Guardian Staff because players asked for it. Players pretty much ask for everything, so when Anet buffs something, then of course it looks like they did it because players asked.

In sPvP yes, but that's something that is more obvious in hindsight. Tempest pretty much got outcompeted from the get-go (although not as badly as people think - mostly, it gets severely punished by scourges due to its reliance on boons and positioning, and when you can safely expect to see a scourge per match...), but for weaver it was unclear whether it was bad in sPvP or whether it was complex and people were just getting to grips with it (in fact, come to think back on it, I think there were a couple of strong builds for tempest right on release, but they got nerfed before most players could come to grips with them anyway). Nowadays, thought, it's pretty clear that elementalist just isn't working in sPvP outside of players who are just plain better to begin with.

In other game modes... well, elementalist has been dominant in raids for a while due to sheer damage potential, so that obscures it a bit.

In the case of guardian... the staff was OBVIOUSLY boonsmited right from the beginning, and it happened before PoF released. So there's been more time, and it was more obviously a problem. It took a year for ArenaNet to implement a solution.

If anything, take heart that the devs are listening and watching.
